I agree with everyone that says that he is the most talented player in Scotland but he very rarely has great games against big teams. By great games, I mean general play. His general play could be so much better in big games.

If you want to praise people for their talent then go ahead; I prefer to praise people for their character traits, and in my opinion Nakamura is one of the weakest characters in our team.

When I say weak character, I'm not referring to the fact that he doesn't tackle. I'm referring to the fact that he lacks the true self confidence in his own ability on the big stage. He has confidence in his free kick taking ability on the big stage, but his general game falls apart. He is supposed to be a playmaker, not an NFL kicker type character who waits for free kicks.

There are exceptions such as the recent Old firm games but it's got to the point where I'm suprised when his general play is excellent in a big game. In his last two old firm games, he has played well and has showed true self belief(Although I didn't think he played to his potential in the last Old firm game)

But will he continue like this, or will he go on another bottle job run in the next 6 or 7 big games. I think it crazy that some people are calling him a legend. Legends always have relentless self confidence on the big stage. Larsson had it, so did Lubo. Nakamura doesn't have it, and unless he addresses certain flaws in his personality, he will never have it.

Have you ever asked yourself the question: Why doesn't Naka take penalties?

He has an amazing left foot yet he doesn't take penalties. What is it that Robson has that Naka doesn't have. I'll tell you - Relentless self confidence. That is why Robson takes the penalties and Naka doesn't. Robson is a true winner. Imagine how good Naka would be if he was a true winner like Robson.

Barry Robson has self confidence but that doesnt mean Nakamura doesnt. Its seems that McDonald was handed responsibilities for taking the penalites and he decided before the match, with Robson, that he'd be taking it.

    McDonald's delight at his double

The reasons of why McDonald is the no.1 spot kicker is unknown to us, maybe he won the right on the training ground.

he's the most techniquely gifted player in the team
the best free kick taker on the ball
has a fanstastic first touch and can spot a pass from nowhere

    apart from that he's *

he offers somehting different if we had a midfield full of robsons or browms or hartley's it would just be plain boring

he has that special gift that pirlo has, he views the game in a completely different way, like an art critic views the mona lisa

he is special and i can see why wgs adores him so much he's a rare species

I'll worship him when he shows total self confidence in his own ability on the big stage. If he had the will to win like Lubo and Larsson, he could be our greatest ever player - He is that talented.

How much bottle did he show when he stepped up to send us through to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in our history against Man Utd?

I agree with the Pirlo comparison, but the difference is Pirlo has true self belief on the big stage. In terms of self belief, Pirlo is 6 or 7 leagues above Naka.

Always thought he was overrated. Maybe I was just spoiled by Lubo, but he's certainly nowhere near his league as far as two footed attacking midfield playmakers go. Doesn't help that Strachan persists on playing him on the wrong side mind, if he could use that left foot of his to ping in crosses he;d be a far more productive player.

No, Robson is an excellent midfielder, I like him, but as skippy27 said:
Nakamura was taught not to rely entirely on his own abilities in Japanese style of play, that's why he doesn't take responsibilities easily. And he has confidence, we've all seen the last games.

That is the enigma that is Naka. He has great self confidence in his free kick taking ability in big games, but has no self belief from open play(and penalties) in big games.

The only enigma here is you. :87:

I already said in my first post that he is the most talented player in Scotland.
