Done that with the JS stand anyway. Temp stand until the Ne'erday game against the huns was out the way then work began.

First game I was ever at was in the temp stand, against Aberdeen.

    Pumped them 3-0 I’m sure.

The main stand has had pretty much the same infrastructure for years, sure bits have been modernised and hospitality suites etc put in.. but we are still working within the constraints of the original building. There must be a way round the building timescales..

Let's get the 10 done and dusted and more CL football in the bank and then look at it..

Part in bold. Do you remember what the surrounding area used to look like? :56:

Much more time consuming to build a brand new main stand tho, with everything that would entail, dressing rooms, board room, new suites..etc..

Possibly mate. I'm sure the shell could be done in 5/6 months though, allowing us to play our qualifiers at home (reduced capacity obviously).

This is way in the future though.

I could be wrong, so please correct me, but a five star euro final venue should have no restricted views right?

The support pillars in the North Stand are essential to the structure aren’t they? So would have to go, but they can’t, can they? Or can they? I dunno :39: just sayin

Did Liverpool demolish a whole stand and rebuild from scratch?

Not sure how it impacted on them on match days but it took over 600 days and £115m..

On another note, is the hotel outside the stadium still happening?

Not sure about the restricted view but you must be able to drive the playes under or the stand or give them protected access.. if you ever watch the Celtic Team arrive on matchday you'll see the coaching staff and sometimes the players bumping their wheelie cases up the steps and into the front entrance. Always think that looks a little amateurish.

That's good to hear, but with that in mind, it makes any capavity expansion seem much more unlikely.

    Dunno mate.

I think another issue with building it right round is the problem of the lack of natural sunlight that would reach the playing surface, although that might be less of an issue with the hybrid surface.

I think if we ever left Scottish football we might look to rebuild completely rather than just rebuild the main stand.

Aye surrounding area. I started going to Celtic Park in 1993, I remember the state of the tenement flats all around the place....and Barrowfield etc. But Im talking about the stadium itself. A lot of that re-development with the flats etc got done by the council for the Commonwealth Games coming.

    I remember that one pub....The Grange....up near Duke Street end.......oaft......just oaft.....what a dump

I remember everyone in the 90s during the re-development....., fans,.... pundit...,, journalists the lot saying that a 60,000 seater stadium was pointless because we wouldn't fill it. We've filled it for 20 years and its time to move upwards.

When they originally re-developed Old Trafford....when Man United first won the league under Ferguson in 1994 the capacity was only 40,000. Its now 75,000 if I'm right. You've got to keep improving things

Even with a 70,000 to 75,000 capacity we would still probably have a max of around 50,000 season ticket holders..

So aye CL games and games v The Scum would be the only times we'd fill it.. but we would have the potential to make more cash from it..
