Like i said in the other thread, it's the second penalty he's missed in his entire career.

Penalties are a lottery for the most part, you pays your money you takes your choice but Robson is better than most at hitting them.

He was also the only midfielder last night willing to get in Aalborgs faces, he sets a tone for his team mates and it's the reason i rate him so highly.

The only problem i have here is the penalty itself. For such a big game i don't doubt Aab came prepared, and any scouting the keeper would have done on penalties would show that the last two we've have we're taken by Baz and drilled straight down the middle. The keeper picks a side, but leaves his legs in the middle and saves. It seems to me that the down the middle ones only work as they're unexpected - so you can't do them every time!!! Barry is still the man in midfield.

In fairness, i made a thread a few months ago saying i would rather someone else stepped up, i like robson, and want him in the team, but he must know goalkeepers do their homework.

that's the reason Boruc saved saha's penalty at CP.

I thought Boruc saved cuz Saha didn't do his homework? Boruc always fakes and dives the other way... just about every time.

Nah boruc said after it, he remembered which way saha went at Old Trafford when he scored.

oh lol... well that's Saha twice punked in that game then. Cuz Naka said when he took the FK, he remembered from old trafford Saha didn't jump and was short... so he aimed for him again. :56:

Robbo is a good player and very influential for Celtic last season, but I have to say..when i was watching Robson take his run up, I just had a feeling he would miss. I mean for a player with such a sweet left foot why can't he curl it into the top corner instead of blasting it low and hard down the middle. Hitting dow the middle with power, there is always a chance of a save and I think Robbo should either rethink his penalty strikes or give him up completely.

i love bazza and think hes been a great signing and gives the midfield a fight and determanation that it had been lacking up until he signed and of course he was a massive influence on how the league race finished last year and i would have him in the team everyweek

but i do think maybe time for someone else to have a go at the pens

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
He has not just turned into a * pen taker since this season started...

But he still looked VERY nervy in the run up to it; as if he was just willing the * thing in instead of picking his spot. I think perhaps it's time to hand the mantle over to Sammy - he's confident at the worst of times, and you need that....

He is a topplayer for us, the heart of our team when he plays through the middle.

As for his penalties, he blasted one right in the corner in the friendly vs Southampton, dont see why he cant do that again.

The answer to our left back woe's?

I've always championed his cause anyway as he brings constant drive and energy to the team but today proved he can operate in area's other than the midfield.

He has all the right attributes for a good attacking full back; never shirks a tackle, has a good engine, good footballing brain and his delivery when he gets into the final third is usually accurate and with considerable pace.

I won't get ahead of myself after 1 good performance against Hamilton but the signs are there that he might be the man to sort that troublesome left full back spot out! What's everyone else's thoughts, specifically folk at the game as well? Was there a buzz about his performance?

    I'm delighted :icon_mrgreen:

To early to decide of he's a permanent replacement
but that will come if he plays against better opposition

he was solid today and got a few crosses in the box

I'd like to see him get a run of games there and get a read on him.
He looks like a good option so far. I admire the attitude and drive he brings to the squad. He has a purpose about him that lifts the team up.

My only problem could be his badassedness for a defender, thats not fantastic.
