You can't really quantify that mate. Fair enough if they had a half each, but to say Forrest wouldn't have done the same or better is just conjecture.

Paddy worked his socks off v Bayern but Forrest has much more experience at this level and is much more capable of putting in the defensive display needed to give us a foothold in the game.

People forget how inexperienced Paddy is compared to Forrest..

It's a bit of a dilemma for BR but a good one to have. I just feel that although less dangerous than Paddy, James holds onto the ball better as he doesn't try to take players on as much. We need possession so in that sense James is the better defensively.

Whoever plays will need help on that wing..

    An excellent, vastly over-looked point.

Someone said something about Paddy probably having a loan clause that he has to start CL games. I’d say that’s almost certainly the case even if it’s unwritten, with City recalling the player if the agreement is breached. City wanted him to develop and he’s only really going to develop further when exposed to the teams in the top competition in European football.

Aye it was me but I'm not sure BR would sign up to that now in hindsight. Stranger things have happened..

I’m almost convinced it’s the case now.

Maybe be to be involved in every CL squad if fit, can't see BR allowing City or the player to stipulate he must start. Would limit BR in his tactical options and can't see him allowing that for any player.

What if Lawwell agreed to it without asking Brendan?

No way a decision like that would be made without consultation.

If lawell went above Rodgers like that he'd walk imo. Absolutely not a chance is he here to have his team picked for him, by anyone.

I'd like to think so too, mate and you're probably right of course.

Absolutely and he has something that Roberts hasn't quite got or shown and that's recovery pace and stamina to do that shift for a full 90..

I was actually impressed with Paddy tracking back at Bayern but it's simply not his game for me against the elite where we'll get found out..

He has a case for fighting out in the 10 for me in Europe where there's less emphasis on him busting a gut back and forth down the wing. Think he'd be more comfortable against your Psg's, Bayern's in the hole or as an impact sub, and no problem on the right against side's a level below the elite..

Don't rate Forrest "defensively" at all, and anyway, I want my RW to be a good attacking player first and foremost. Roberts over Forrest every time.

:56: Definitely won me over since then, but he's just not as good as Roberts at all.
