We were totally outclassed and outplayed in midfield, our middle 3 couldn't keep up with them but also the fact we tried to press high Bayern just exploited the gaps easily. On the ball he done well enough as did Ntcham and Armstrong I thought. Off the ball they couldn't get close for much of the game.

Didnt think he had a great game but thought he was one of the best out a bad lot. At times it looked like he was trying to press but Armstrong & Ntcham were not doing it with him leaving him chasing shadows.
Thought he kept the ball reasonably well and tried to calm us down when in possession.

I genuinely think that’s the most I’ve ever seen him make in a game. It was just the ball was getting pinged about past our midfield that many times you probably wouldn’t notice.

Kind of frightening thinking what he'd be like if Brendan got a hold of him when he was younger.

Will he, won’t he? The saga surrounding Scott Brown’s Scotland future seems to have gone on longer than Celtic’s unbeaten run but there could be some decisions coming very soon.

In the wake of Celtic’s 4-2 victory over Hibernian in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup yesterday, Brown revealed that he is set to have what could be described as crunch talks with Malky Mackay, the interim Scotland manager.

Brown’s disappointment with the decision to part company with Gordon Strachan has been well documented. Scotland’s next match will be a friendly with the Netherlands in November and Mackay, who will take charge for that encounter at Pittodrie, would no doubt be delighted to have Brown in his ranks. Brown will have the final say, though.

“I know (what his Scotland future is) but I’m not telling you,” said Brown to a probing press pack. “We will see what happens. I am going to speak to Malky in the next couple of days and see how it goes.

Brown and his team-mates will put the club’s 60 match unbeaten record on the line again this week with a testing trip to Aberdeen but Brown is relishing the challenge. “It’s only people on the outside who are putting pressure on us about the unbeaten run,” he added. “We are relaxed and enjoying the football. Maybe sometimes fans get a fright with the way we play the ball from the back but that’s how the manager wants us to play. We want to play that way too. We don’t want to be an ugly football team."

A brace from both from both Mikeal Lustig and the returning Moussa Dembele put Hibernian to the sword as Celtic continued to exert a tyrannical rule over the Scottish game. "I am ready as soon as the manager needs me on the pitch,” said Dembele who is being eased back into frontline duty after injury. “I am fit to produce what I have produced last season."

Lustig may not be renowned for his prolific goal scoring record but having notched one for Sweden against Luxembourg recently, the 30-year-old bolstered his tally with a rare double whammy.

“It is often like this and you can go 20 or 30 games without a goal and suddenly you are there at the right time,” he said. "I didn’t hit the ball cleanly but that is probably why they have both gone in. Every game we know we are favourites and we should win the game. But even if we win the game 1-0 or 2-1 we are not satisfied because we know the level we can get to.”

BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed he’s spoken to stand-in Scotland boss Malky Mackay about Scott Brown’s future in dark blue.

The Celtic captain has already come out of international retirement once to help out former boss Gordon Strachan and question marks now hang over the midfielder and his desire to continue on for another campaign as Scotland skipper.

Brown revealed at the weekend he will speak to Mackay in the coming days, but Rodgers has told how he had a meeting with the Scottish FA performance director last week to discuss the 32-year-old and his place in the national side set up.

“I spoke to Scott, I had a good meeting. I also spoke with Malky in the week, he’s going into a game with Holland and he’ll want to do well in it as will the players,” said the Celtic manager.

“I have my feelings on it with Scott and I’ll always say that to him but ultimately it’s down to him and his body and where he’s at.

“Scotland will be embarking soon on the European Championship front, so if they can get to that he’ll be 35. So there is probably something for him to think about.

“He’s the catalyst for the team, he’s still fit, he’s still fresh. You saw the level of his game in Bayern Munch, he’s still a top-class operator at that level.

“But I also know he wants to really maintain his Celtic career for as long as he can.

“I said to him it’s worth speaking to Malky, go and have a chat and see where you’re at for this next game.”

Rodgers also insisted that with a competitive fixture for Scotland not coming for almost a year, there is no need to rush Brown into a decision.

“It doesn’t have to be conclusive now,” he said. “I think Scott knows the benefits of not playing. “He’s a passionate Scotsman as well and ultimately it’s his decision.

    “He’ll see where it’s at.

“I think the next period for Scotland can be really exciting and, of course, you’ll need your best players of that.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers insists he wil not stand in the way of any of tartan troop who wish to play for Scotland in next month’s friendly with the Netherlands.

The two sides, who are out of World Cup qualifying contention, meet at Pittodrie on November 9 in the middle of a frantic run of both domestic and Champions League games for the Parkhead club.

The likes of Brown, James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong, Kieran Tierney, Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor and Craig Gordon are all likely to be called upon by Malky Mackay for what is ultimately a meaningless match, but Rodgers says he will not interfere if his players wish to go to the Granite City.

“It’s not ideal, with them playing so many games. But the Scottish boys love playing for their country,” he said.

“I’d never deny a player that chance. If they want to speak to me or me speak to an international manager then that’s what we’ll do.

“But that’s what I love about the Scottish boys - they are so honest.

“I’ll always have a Scottish core here, they want t play in every game and they love working.

“They want to do their bit for Scotland as well and I’m not one to talk them out of it.

The likes of Stu have just broken in, Callum has just got in and Kieran is young. James has been around it for a while, and Broony, we’ll see what happens.”

He should take the meaningless Holland game off and make his mind up once the new manager is in place.

Googled him the other day to check his age, getting to the stage that I'm starting to think about Celtic after Brown. Not a great thought, so it would be great to prolong his career as much as possible.

Redeeming factor, is that he looks better than ever and still has an exceptional level of fitness.

    He should just retire.

He was willing to do it a while back, and he's not getting any younger - so why on earth would he continue to play for Scotland when the next tournament is over 2 years away?
