And say what? "How do you fancy taking a crack at being Celtic manager? Even if you achieve an unbeaten domestic treble, you'll need to compete with teams in Europe with a hundred times your budget otherwise you're out the door."

Can you honestly not remember the other names being linked ffs. We won't get any better than Brendan I can tell you that now.

It doesn't really show arrogance, but belief in the teams' ability to reach his long term targets and the method he uses to get there. Who else could we have played? Dembele is not fit yet, Rogic is good for 50 or so minutes against teams we are chasing the ball against, and even then that is not his game. You could argue that Forrest would be more effective than Roberts in a game like yesterday's, and McGregor isn't the kind of player we needed last night when we knew we weren't going to have the ball for long periods. I'd say it is more of a reflection of the difficulty in getting the players that could push us on at this level, we got lucky with Wanyama and Van Dijk coming in within a short period of time, but finding players like that who have not already been snatched up by the bigger clubs is a real issue.

If that is your genuine opinion then perhaps you'd be better not following Celtic at all. In fact on CL nights ask the Nurse to lock you up and keep you away from the keyboard. Perhaps then we'll see and end to such silly comments and save hundreds of members having face palm moments.

Fact is we are not and will never be able to compete against the richest top 6 or so clubs in Europe without serious investment in players of that calibre and quality which the top sides can go buy at their whim.

Reality check the likes of PSG, Bayern and Barcelona will regularly swat aside all laid before them. Yes they might have an off day and draw or get beat but odds on that will be a rare event.

Mate, if you are seriously suggesting we should sack Brendan next season if he doesn’t manage to beat Real Madrid or whatever super team we draw in the group, then I feel sorry for you. How must it feel to never be able to enjoy your own football team.

Still find it mental some fans just don't understand we're in the era of the super teams.

It's only going to get worse as well...

I wonder if it is a fifa/champ man generation thing where people have become used to being able to take over celtic and win the champions league in 3 years. Whatever it is, it isnt based on any sort of reality

Why even wait until next season?

Fail to take 3 points against Bayern in the return game and he should have his P45 on the desk by the final whistle.

I think it's more older fans who only watch Celtic and don't watch European football to be honest. The type who thought we should be beating Gladbach comfortably last season just because they were a German team who weren't Bayern or Dortmund.

I think younger fans fully accept where we are.
