Plenty for pretty normal guys maybe £500k-£1million each for a years work apeice but McCann made about £24million, he invested £14million then sold the shares for £39million although donated £1.5million to the Youth Academy.

Some job, took us from old run down stadium, to new 60,000, from finishing 3rd and 4th top top then walked away really having earned on average £5million per year for his work.

Desmond in comparison has spent around £32million in shares. Unless we get into some sort of European League or England he'd be lucky to get half his money back.

i'm sure that Fergus, at one point could have sold his shares for over £60m, but as promised, he stayed for the 5yrs he said he would.
just goes to show you how lucky we where to have a guy like Fergus in charge of us at that time.

Aye, we're lucky to have got McCann and then Desmond after him. Two great businessmen who know what they're doing. Compared to the Clubs from Ibrox who've went from cowboy to cowboy.

Murray who put basically nothing into them out his own pocket, he gambled on Bank of Scotland loans and overdraft money and won for quite a while, went all in on Advocaat and the game was a bogey, ended up not only sinking the huns but also sunk his other company by taking on £50million of debt from the huns. Craig Whyte steps up as a fraudster who basically bought himself a £1million job for £1, sailed off into the sunset. Up stepped Chuckles who done a Whyte again and now they have King and the likes who don't know what they're doing. They seem to have took charge on the cheap just for the fame of owning the Club, don't seem to plan on investing anything or getting them financially stable.

As well as perpetually having to battle a hostile SFA, who seemingly tried everything they could to hamper Celtic during this period also. From being fined wayyyy over the top for getting Tommy Burns in as manager from Killie, to Jim Farry & co going out of thier way to stall player registrations, such as the Cadete Affair highlighted, to Celtic having to pay wayyy over the odds for the use of Hampden that one year (and all the other ways to squeeze when we were there, ie, no concessions, advertizing etc), and making life generally as difficult as possible. McCann had a * of a job to do. And do it he did. Suffice to say, he earned every penny.

Btw it has to be pointed out that rangers owed out more to the bank than celtic celtic balance sheet actually looked better thing is the bank wanted the money back and the same bank said moonbeams might owe more money but they thought they would get it back easily off him fact us an overdraft is their to help cash flow example people pay cheque's or finance etc or don't pay till a job is done so an overdraft facility is their to give capital till rest of the money is paid back in David murray ovb abused that though

At the time of the share issue , there was zero support from the SMSM for Celtic becoming a PLC . Just imagine if it was a now defunct football club somewhere else in Glasgow being floated . It would have been spun like a top , no doubt . I , like many others on this forum , will forever be grateful for the sterling work done by Uncle Fergus . The North stand should be named after him IMHO . I was happy to spend my £620.00 back at the time , and even happier to witness the club's revival over the last 20 odd years . It was also a victory for the club to get shot of the old board . Onwards and upwards Celtic .

Tell you one thing if Fergus was still in charge they cheating * across the river would have had their titles stripped by now and the SFA and SPFL found implicit in the whole cover up
