Being put to good use. It's something that will generate a lot of income for us down the line, obviously..

I'd say a fraction of CL money is being used. Wonder if it was a factor on whether or not to build the hotel or not?

    Definitely not..

Would of probably been in motion probably when the area was being developed for the game's and an opportunity in the market clocked by us sitting in it..

No doubt some of the cl money is put to it they will have business plan and targets to achieve that will pay off the outlay my judgement is we won't see the financial benefits after 5 years

Not long. In business, it's just not what is coming in through the doors to make back the 18. The actual building can ride in value wiping out some of the 18m spent.

Presumably the lack of spending the CL money is because we're using it to fund this project. I don't know whether to be * off or happy about that?! :39::56:

Good business idea, assume we'll use it on matchday. It's just another cog in the wheel of making us a top club in Europe a wee stadium upgrade and we'll be ready for a CL final.

It will allow them to hold match day hospitality in the hotel aswell no doubt the hospitality they were running from outside the stadium was a trial run

I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure this won't have had anything to do with recent qualification for the champions league. I don't think the business would operate in that way.

I would expect debt will be taken in a more traditional way and the facility will be expected to pay for itself.

If we were waiting on qualification that implies we might have cancelled or postponed this project. That's the way oldco. used to operate and it's the kind of thinking that lead to their death.

Here’s how much Celtic’s new hotel complex could cost – and when it could open

    September 18, 2017

A LEAKED document claims Celtic’s stunning new hotel will cost £18million and be open by February 2020.

Club chiefs unveiled a blueprint for the sleek development in February, which also includes a new museum, superstore and ticket office.

The Scottish champions are still waiting on being granted planning permission to transform the area around Celtic Park.

I still wouldn't be surprised if we allow/get another company/hotel chain to build it and we charge them rent which provides us with a steady income and saves us from servicing the outlay. Would depend on how committed we are to owning the whole thing as a club. Personally, I hope we can manage the whole thing ourselves although this will, likely, see the haters go apeshit as there will be an inevitable reduction in net transfer spending (more allegations of bonuses for the board yawn). However long term it would leave us in a good place, although we would be taking a risk. The key to this is CL entry for another few years, As that cash makes it possible for us to afford it ourselves, provided we don't overspend on transfers/salaries.
The real question is would there be sufficient demand to justify the spend, so I'm surprised that a feasibility study hasn't already been conducted. Although land that has planning permission already granted is more valuable.

The hotel will probably be a radisson or something.

Aye I would imagine it wont be a budget hotel so a Radisson/Jury's type hotel would be more likely. Am just not sure if they will want any hotel to be owned and run by us, or if they would prefer another to take on the day to day costs/risks. Pro's and con's either way I suppose. Main thing is it'll be good having something.

I think it would do well, when I travel to see Celtic in Europe I always spend decent time looking for a hotel, try to always get one thats close to the City centre but also has easy transport to it from the airport, in Europe usually trains and trams so you're not * about and easy transport like a near bye train or tram station goes right to the stadium, no arsing about on 2 or 3 different ones or is close to the stadium, as most of the time after the game you are a burst baw and want back to the hotel quick or before the game you can get showered and changed and pick up the tickets before going to the game.

So when we play in Europe which we usually do 6 times a season, a lot of opposition fans would use it, as it's easy to get to with the train to Bridgeton then a 5 minute walk and it's right on the doorstep of the stadium, you couldn't want any closer. So if you were a Bayern fan for example you could walk into the toon centre in 20 minutes, drink all day and then you know you're only walking back 20 minutes to get ready for the game before kick off then into the stadium in 2 minutes. Then there's Celtic fans who come for European games from Ireland and abroad as well who would stay in it.

Celtic fans who travel from Ireland or even ones from further away in Scotland might decide to stay over night more for home games as well.

When Celtic play at Hampden or Ibrox as well and fans come from abroad or far for those games they'd stay at it, they would have wee bonuses as well like they can offer free parking, theres probably not many hotels in Glasgow who can offer parking as most of them are in the town centre. You must get tourists who come and drive around Scotland on wee tours so it'd be good for people like that or people who are driving up from England or wherever maybe only for a night or two to go to parties or funerals or just for the weekend or to go to an event.

They'll have thought of everything anyway.

Hotels are notoriously expensive to run, so I'd assume Celtic would get involved with a current Hotel company in order to get it running.
