Are any of our youth keepers ready to make the step up? Hazard signed a new deal recently I think.

At 19 still very young for a keeper.. hard to tell how he'll develop..

We need be looking at maybe a 25yr old with some first team and international experience..

Let's see our new scouting network come up with some goods..

Gordon is a bad keeper always has been ,Roy Keane was * nuts to spent a record £9million on him .it just goes to show how * up our signing policy is when we got £10 million for Forster and gambled on gordon who hadnt played in 3 years after career threatening injuries on a free .yes he does a job for us when we dominate teams but I can't think of any game changing saves hes made

    So I did :56:

I go with my 'decent' keeper.

He's definitely weak as * at his near post though. Fries my brain how he can pull off some incredible saves and then let real easy ones in.

As it is, he's not a keeper that can take us to the next level in the Champions League for me.

Just watched the Lyon keeper save a penalty from Cavani there.

Just makes me think that I did not have one iota of confidence that Gordon would save that penalty the other night. Not in the same ilk as Boruc and Forster.

    ? ...."odd mistakes - seriously?"...

.....in which case we'd probably be referring to The Holy Goalie, who seems to be retrospectively held up as some superkeeper mix of Gordon Banks and Ronnie Simpson by some posters on this particular thread :39:

I thought that Boruc was a great keeper for us in the main, but then again so is Gordon imho

If gordon is a bad keeper youve got too high expectations and should probably beging watching real madrid or something.

Unfortunately, Gordon is neither of those two. As others are saying, and I agree, he is an above average keeper and has done us well. But time to move on and find a younger, better keeper to help us in our European quest.

What does the price of an average keeper in the inflated English market have to do with anything?

A striker got bought for 70m in England this summer, should we just never buy another striker?
Pogba got bought for 90m, maybe we shouldn't buy another midfielder either.
And while we are at it, virgil is a 65m rated defender, we may as well never buy another one of them either.

No. Not at all. Maybe one day but from what I saw wouldn't put much hope on that.

No it simply means (a) we might find it hard to sign a decent keeper at a reasonable price and (b) we might have to look abroad (I think I mentioned the quality of the current crop of young German and Italian keepers)

Gordon is definitely our weakest link, I personally don't rate him either. he's not so much of a bomb scare in the league as we will usually get away with a small hiccup from him but in Europe where we are under a lot more pressure, there's absolutely no confidence he's going to pull a blinder the same way Forster or Boruc did. Infact, every time a player like Neymar is around the 18 yard box with the ball at his feet, it's a case of hoping the * it goes absolutely nowhere near the goal as chances are it's going to go in.

Fuc*ed up big time for Harry Kane's 93rd minute equaliser as well. Yeah, Armstrong shouldn't have given the ball away so easily but the resultant incoming ball should have easily been his. Griff gave us hope with 2 belters, Gordon dashed our hopes just a few minutes later. Would have been a brilliant victory and we would be in a much stronger position in the group now too with an extra 2 points.

New keeper required for next season, give him the rest of the year and bye bye June 18.

Constructive criticism is welcomed, as are alternatives for the position -- but you have offered neither

Boruc got us through to the last 16 twice with some incredible performances, Forster got us there once with similar performances. Gordon's not at that level yet, I suspect he never will be.

My expectations aint that high. I just think a decent keeper will get all the basic stuff right, nothng spectacular Gordon doesn't do that, Im pretty sure he has been beat at his near post 3 times this season already, his decision making is atrocious which seriously overshadows the fact that he can be good at shot stopping
