It's not so much Lustig it's the suggestions of Ralston that is worrying me.

I'm still not convinced by him and it is incredibly early doors to put him in there.

Throwing in a young boy against that attack is suicidal, I agree. I'm also just not convinced with Lustig out there against Neymar.

Gamboa, Lustig, Jozo & KT for me, but clearly Brendan doesn't rate Gamboa and I'd be shocked if he goes with an inexperienced Ralston, so I think it will be Lustig, Bitton, Jozo and KT. That being the case though, I'm surprised Bitton didn't play a part beside Jozo on Friday night. Maybe we'll see Forrest and McGregor as wing backs again, either side of a back three of Lustig, Jozo and KT.

    * knows...hopefully Brendan does :39:

Letting Izzy go (and not replacing him) was a ridiculous decision even without considering our cb problems is its easy to say miller,Ralston can play there but they ain't good options may as well say Doris de Vries could play there.
Now we are in the position were we have nothing but bad options even shifting lustig to cb which is probably the most sensible aint a good option either ,even with boyata and Eric fit there would be question marks and the implication that rivaldo coetzee was the only cb in world football that we could have signed this summer to improve that area is just plain insulting.
going through the qualifiers with bitton at cb was stupid and I could maybe see through it if we were plugging a gap waiting for a couple of world class cbs to come back from injury but thats not the case since we were going to offload one of them .it just makes you wonder what the * have we been doing all summer ,when it became clear the guys we have weren't gonna be fit we tried to loan a player who had already agreed to go somewhere else.
Its extremely frustrating looking at the defensive situation we find ourselves in especially when it was easily avoided

Rodgers always speaks about getting the right player in, a player of quality. Am frustrated we didn't get a cb as much as yourself. But if being patient means bringing in better quality then am game for that. Got to look at the bigger picture here. Am sure we would have identified quality cb's and for whatever reason failed in getting them in. What you can't do is hit the panic button and sign yourself another braafheid, Scheidt, Thompson, or even a hoiveld. When you rush a signing in you might be stuck with them for 4 years. Look at cifti now. At the time we desperately needed back up for griff or even someone capable of challenging him. It was a obvious weakness at the time. Imo deila and Collins could identify anyone to fit the bill and gambled on cifti. That gamble cost at least 1.5M initially. What is cifti on 10k a week maybe?

It's not ideal we go into Tuesday without a firm defence at all. If Rodgers get the right cb in the long run (which am confident he will) then it'll make for a stronger Celtic again

I agree with that in principle but its doesn't seem to apply here ,it seems we had tunnel vision on rivaldo and didn't bother trying to get him until we qualified for the champions league and when that went pear shaped we went for the panic signing of denayer ,we could of tried for both them deals at the start of the window and had it reached the same conclusion looked about someone else .
Im amazed that kolo toure wasn't offered a deal when it became clear we were going into the qualifiers with bitton at cb

I don't know why you are amazed then. Toure is done. You don't give contracts to players who are done.

Highly unlikely but what about -

    Tierney Lustig Jozo Hayes

Sure I've seen before that Hayes has played LB on a few occasions. Wouldn't be the best time to try it out but we are short of options.

If he does go with Bitton then so be it. He was poor away to Astana but he had Ajer beside him that night and he would be a lot more relaxed with Jozo beside him.

There's only one tall Israeli defensive midfielder for the job. Feel Nir's experience is the key here, I've never been convinced by Lustig as a CB and Ajer is too inexperienced for this type of game.

    We can count on Bitton.

Honestly, i would play gamboa for this match. He's probably the fastest player at our club, and would at least keep up with neymar in a sprint. Move lustig in CB alongside jozo as his height will help against cavani.

Gamboa for me as well. Better defensively than I imagined and is rapid.

    I can't see it though.

    * no! Hayes has been awful in the SPL for us, throwing him in a CL game would be a disaster imo. Wouldn't even have him on the bench for these games.

I do agree with your opinion on toure. We certainly could have done us a job until January at least.

That being said we don't know what deals have plenty failed behind the scenes. Not all business is picked up by the media. May have had all sorts of plans that didn't come about. I certainly hope so anyway...

Gamboa got tore apart by Neymar in Barcelona. I don't think it would be wise to play him against Neymar again, especially when he has had so little match practice and bonding with the first team. And in any event, I don't think Brendan fancies him.I am the same.

To be fair that was his debut, he's improved since then. I rate lustig but his lack of pace will be evident here imo, and i don't trust bitton or ajer at CB/Ralston at RB.

Tell me when has Gamboa improved ? He wasn't Brendan's signing, he was a panic last minute purchase by John Park, a sort of Farewell GIUPY to the board. There is no way Brendan will play Gamboa on Tuesday, I am sure of it. Tony Pullis didn't rate Gamboa either, that is why he couldn't wait to get rid of him
