If I was Bitton's manager, I would defend him, and you know why?

I might need him to play there again!! Even though I know he's a liability. Brendan's not daft, he knows a player but he knows when to play the psychological bluff too.

He's the best choice just now, that's all. Too risky to throw on any inexperience.

He can do alright up to a point then he starts to wander, he's done it in midfield too. Put any direct pace and pressure on him and he crumbles. He's fine for the SPL, but even then he crumbles. Big euro nights against quality opposition and he's never turned up. He got hyped after a few good goals against easier opposition, talk of transfers etc, then the scouts also saw right through him on the big nights.

Nobody wanted him, we were stuck with him. His passing his awry, he thinks he's more clever than he is. For a big lad he's too easy to push off the ball and he's slow getting back.

Why has Brendan bought Kouassi and Ntcham? Because he knows Bitton is a liability!

It's easy to coast along in a great team who are sweeping the rest of domestic competition aside. Players can hide doing the simple things, especially when most of the opposition are sitting back and not pressing you. This gives the likes of Bitton time and space, something he cannot create himself because he's not good enough.

We all know he isn't a cb he slows the game down when playing midfield so you would think moving back would suit him but his positional awareness is poor at the back, Sutton filled in at cb a few times but that is the position he started out at before becoming a forward.
