In the interests of not losing his fitness and deteriorating mentally, Virgil should definitely tell his agent to seek a loan move if Southampton are adamant to not sell.

 

It's madness from both sides this.

If Southampton are waiting for silly offers in the region of 100mill, then fair enough since the money is silly down there now. But you don't go about getting that deal by letting this situation get to this stage.


If they really do not want to sell at all, then what is their end goal here?? This isn't going to miraculously turn nice for both parties after the window shuts. Virgil wants out, he has made this more than clear and is not happy. So what they expect to happen the rest of the season!? Are they really thinking long term they just pay the guy his wage and let him rot?
Or that come january/next summer his value will have changed at all!?

Virgil is hardly going to turn around next week and start performing out his skin and become a better player for them. So his value surely will only go down.

I feel if the rumours are true regarding the numbers then this will reflect badly on Southampton.

They've probably asked him to sign the 6 year contract on the understanding he would be allowed to move if a big offer came in. Comes right on the back of them losing Wanyama for much less than his worth due to his contract expiring.

Can't imagine many players will be rushing to make this kind of agreement with them again.

 

We'll get the money eventually. We won't be spending it this window even if he goes in the next hour.

Hope Southampton tell him he's staying out and don't give in to player pressure.
