Whey protein isn't going to do much for you other than increase your body's mucus production. If you insist on getting a protein supplement, get hemp, it tastes like *, but it is a complete protein with a good omega oil profile. The idea that we need protein supplements is a false one though, our diet is more than enough for what you want to do, just do as Tim Floyd says and definitely eat a calorie surplus of good quality food and avoid cardio for now.

I change my routine every 6-8 weeks to keep it fresh, and until my injury, I had been doing Thai boxing for 9 months, though the workout isn't great in that most of the time because for half the class you are only holding pads for someone else.

Think I've pushed myself a bit too hard starting off here. Think I've gone 6/7 days since beginning last Friday. I've upped the weight immediately which is promising and encouraging, but I've been feeling a strain in my lower back and thigh that I should have rested.

Rest day today, maybe even two. It's tough to stop going when your motivated and bored of sitting at home.

You need to rest to allow your body to recover. Not resting will result in injuries which will keep you out of the gym even longer than a day or two rest. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.

Keep a record of your workouts and the weight/reps and plan for the next workout on off days and enjoy them as well!

Got like ten stairs at home so I've been sprinting down them and walking up them, no fit enough to run up and down them yet. Managing to do that for 1hr 30mins most days at the moment, so my legs and lungs are in decent shape, but haven't been doing much upper body stuff.

Currently 11 stone 12 pounds and 5ft 6in so not great shape to be in at the moment so looking to get down to around 10 stone. Unfortunately, got a footy tourny in two weeks that I really wanted to be in good shape for but left it a bit late to get to the weight I want to.

I'm not majorly unfit or anything as have been exercising but carrying excess weight doesn't help, especially when playing footy. Could probably lose around a stone in two weeks.

That's a decent workout for ye.

Should try just walking up and down them, and do a full squat on each step, until you're tired.

I'm going back to the gym this week, got a Fitbit and I've been getting to 10k steps most days but I'm still a fat *. Need to get back on the rowing machine and bike which I enjoy but always make excuses for not going.

I've went from playing 5's 3 or 4 times a week to nothing because all my mates all have weans and no free time anymore. And it shows, I'm over a stone from where I want to be!

Was always right into the gym. Became a psrt of my daily routine. I went through a bad spell and became unmotivated smoked weed everyday and piled the weight on. But in my favour i knoe what am doing et the gym. Av dropped 1 stone 9 pounds of fat or 2 stone 5 total wieght in 10 weeks. As long as you have a caloric defecit of 500 minus a day or plus 500 a day you will lose or gain 1 pound. I burn about 700 calories et gym in a hour or so of HIIT. and reduce my food by 500 as well so about 2 half pounds dropped p/w. Rest is vital thoo and so is eating right foods. 65% nutrition, 25% rest 10% gym.
Dont feel the urge to overdoo the gym as long as yer diets spot on and ur active the long term is the goal not the next 2 months ect.

Back at it today. Did my first full 5x5 of proper overhead presses, massive boost of confidence, even if it was just the bar :34:.

Still struggling a bit with squats, I practice my form and have looked up tutorials but I just don't think I'm doing them correctly. Been adding weight as well, but I'm not getting the proper "burn" I think I should be. Also dropped too low on my last set and strained my lower back a bit, so I'll take some time off that and restart when I'm 100%.

Anyone wanna shed some advice on squatting? I've been confident with the weight I'm doing (I was up to 90 today before I strained myself), but I can't help but think I'm * it up.

Knees shoulder width apart, stick yer * oot a bit, keep yer back straight, then dip yer * as much as you can to the floor, bending your knees.

    Simple.

One of the best workouts you can do.

High bar squats will put more emphasis on the quads , low bar wider stance more hips / glutes / hammies

Breath into stomach and hold air in , dont breath into chest , find a stance that suits you best that will depend on your limb and torso length , always initiate movement by hips furst then knees.

Weird day yesterday. Lost a ton of strength and stamina in my upper body work out. For whatever reason I was struggling with every thing, ended up going from 100 lbs on deltoid fly's all the way to down 70, and even then I found the last set almost undoable.

Hoping it was just a one off. Every other day previously I had been starting low and upping the weight gradually, so to struggle after only a couple days off is a bit discouraging.

You just get days like that.

I was the same this morning, had * all in the tank so just went through the motions.

Turning up and going through the motions is better than not turning up at all.

Out of interest what workout program are you following?

https://stronglifts.com/5x5/ As recommended by @jj81. I've added a few common exercises to each work out to get in a day of upper body and a day of legs as well.

Been great so far. It's been challenging without being impossible. Still early days, so looking to continue on and push to see some results. :50:
