  1. Is he? We should definitely go for him. He made a very sorry Brondby team look competitive (Pukki is an idol there just for you to have a grasp) alone. I have seen him playing a lot and he is definitely good enough for Celtic.

Even if you don't think Gordon should be punted, he is getting old, is quite injury prone and DDV isnt good enough to step.in if something happens, in addition to being older than Gordon. We should be looking at transitioning to a younger keeper next season.

  2. We don't need a prospect we need an established international which Ward is

  3. Still not at all convinced with Gordon, can't believe we didn't bite Chelsea's hands off. As for the quote about the near post goals, it's true enough, but the goals he concedes at his near post are often really soft. If it was Forrest esque v Rosenborg then fine, but the goals against Hearts and Astana were very poor. I think Rodgers is forcing him to do something he just can't do as well, he doesn't have the footballing brain to play balls out from the back under pressure. Needs to just hump it up the park.

  4. It's not a myth (Kasper Schmeichal is much younger than me, so it makes sense he thinks it's a myth); it's an anachronism. I've said this many times on here: the ball has changed. It's not true any longer that a keeper shouldn't be beaten at his near post ands hasn't been true since probably the mid 90's.

  5. Really don't know much about the keepers mentioned but can either of them actually play the ball out for the back?

  6. That Scott Bain played a blinder in goal against Hibs today. He's also been called up into Strachan's Scotland squad.
    Only 25 too.

  7. He turned down their latest contract offer 10 days ago according to Frankfurts DoF Fredi Bobic. Read it at Finnish state broadcaster YLE.

  8. Yeah but the goals he has been letting in at his near post have been awful.

  9. HE single handedly got us to the last 32 that year

  10. Oh FFS - give the Bhoy a * break.

In general terms, CG has been a magnificent signing for us. Like most keepers, he's now being asked to play passing football - even when under pressure. Sounds dead simple doesn't it... but is it *!

His close range interaction with his defenders has been coming on leaps and bounds over the last season. I actually think he has played his way out of a lot of nippy situations very well.

So, he * up against St Johnstone. Whoop-de-* do! Defenders give away easy passes - no one goes tonto despite it being their bread and butter. Midfielders give away easy passes despite it being their bread and butter. Wingers give away easy passes despite it being their bread and butter. Strikers give the ball away despite it being their bread and butter.
Goalie makes a mistake despite it NOT being his bread and butter, but a new skill being forced on him by modern management. Crucified!!! Anyone else... meh!!!

Get off the Bhoys back you greeting faced *!

Listen, CG has single handedly won us games and kept us in tournaments. Don't forget that you bunch of ungrateful armchair expert shites!!!

  11. Gordon is an excellent goalie, ffs, all this pish about ball playing gk's, who the fk really is all that good at it.

Man City bought a Brazilian * sweeper keeper who cannae save a baw.

I want my gk to save shots, which he's done pretty darn well at.

Yesterday was a blooper, but that's because he had a right back who shat it to pump the ball up the park and passed the buck to the goalie, simple.

  13. Amido balde's goals won us games. Didn't stop him getting punted.

You can't seriously compare the service Craig Gordon has given us with that unless plank Balde...:56:from memory he only scored 2 or 3 goals in all his time at Celtic - admittedly one was a winner, but really.....!?!!:40:

  14. Scott Bain * me mate have a word, we might not have biggest budget but there is a reason he is playing for Dundee at age of 25 and it's because he's not that good. Also it's Freddie woodman and he is pish, Danny ward is miles ahead.

  15. The guy has saved us plenty of times in the past. In Europe and domestically. He makes mistakes but tell me of a goalkeeper who doesn't.

  17. I don't even think in general terms he's been 'magnificent' for us, he's been decent enough at times but I wouldn't say this season or last he was ever magnificent on a consistent basis. How many times last year did he come racing off his line and get lucky with a yellow card and not a red? At least three that I can think of off the top of my head. St Mirren in the cup last year, one down, spend ages getting back in to the match, go 2-1 up and then Gordon starts * about with the ball and nearly undoes all the hard work the team put in. I don't think it's all Gordon's fault, as you say he is being pushed in to playing a way he clearly can't which puzzles me why Rodgers was so insistent on sticking with him.

As for the rest about not hammering players giving away easy balls I think that's *, players are constantly getting slaughtered for giving the ball away too easily and losing possession too easily.

  18. I could see this happening sooner or later given what Brendan asks from players and that Gordon isn't exactly Victor Valdes when it comes to his distribution or technique. Gordon's distribution has definitely improved, but it's still only decent, nothing more.

Personally I'm against this over passing from the back on which Brendan insists, but it's his call. I don't want to sound negative, but I just hope that this tactics won't cost us in Europe, that's all.

  19. Suggestions that we can get a keeper better than Gordon are way off the mark. His shot stopping is still excellent and his overall play with the ball at his feet is good. Yesterday was a bad mistake (not just him to blame though) but any keeper who is part of an unbeaten domestic run since last November doesnt just turn pish.
