No there isnt but you will get excuses from some who will use Sevco as an example if you overspend who have been scaremongered!

I feel people just want loads of signings every window no matter what. You don't break up an I proving treble winning team with loads of new unknowns. You add 2 or 3 quality additions. We've added nitcham (spelling) for 4.5m. Roberts soon for probably a record fee. That other new boy forgot his name. Terrible for a Celtic fan :56: yet people want another 3 signings. Roberts will be the last. At the start of the window just Roberts would have me happy.

Treble winning squad or not it's obvious we need cover in central defence, left back and up front

Is cover any better than our youth? Let's buy 3 new guys to sit bored and * off at no game time then upsetting the squad. Keep it small and they perform better.

Also the type of players Rodgers wants require bigger wages. Leaves less room for backup. We're not real Madrid who can afford anything. I'd rather real quality through out the team than spending the budget on wages for loads of pish backup

No one is asking that last season's squad be broken up though; not that I've seen anyway. It's undeniable that within that squad though there was some deadwood needing rid of/replaced and our squad is now a lot smaller than at the end of last season. In a couple of circumstances, we need replacements for depth's sake, e.g. Hayes has replaced GMS and we now need a replacement for Izaguirre.

We can't afford to rest on our laurels if we have ambition to be a regular champions league team. A centre back partner for Jozo, of similar quality, is required for that level in my opinion, as well as a first choice right winger (Roberts). I also think we need a striker as it's unthinkable to go into a champions league game with Griffiths and Dembele injured and no alternative.

Three new additions is in no way an unrealistic wish.

It's the wage bill too. Rodgers may be downsizing the squad to allow us to keep players like dembele and afford the wages of Roberts quality. Ncham won't be on buttons either. I'd rather Roberts than 3 players on 10k a week as backup.

Edit. As for strikers. We have youths banging them in. Get one in the last 10 mins of games and up to speed. Give them a chance and suddenly we have a better back up than another cifti, and that's what we'd get another cifti as a cheap 3rd backup.

Who's to say they won't get game time? Griff and dembele worked last season when rotating and keeping things fresh.

Will they be better than the youth banging them in? Probably not. Use them. Why waste 10k a week. Use that towards big players.

I'm not suggesting we are Real Madrid or can afford so and so but BR has said he wants more quality and we are short in certain areas due to injuries. Not saying the youth can't step up but maybe BR thinks they can be integrated into the squad throughout the season but wants quality for Europe

We don't know that. We have no idea who BR classes as quality. Don't get me wrong I am all for giving the youth a go, the lads have been outstanding since coming through

I don't disagree with any of your first paragraph, but when you take into account the players we've got off the wage bill this summer (especially Toure who was on a massive wage, Commons and Izzy), plus whatever we were contributing for Roberts, there's plenty money there within the budget to go out and get at least a couple of players on £30k a week.

As far as a third choice striker goes, Aitchison (who is the most likely youth player) isn't ready for first team football at our level yet (never mind European football). Rodgers won't sign someone for the sake of it (i.e. another Ciftci) but if there's the possibility of a quality addition then it's something we need to look at.

If we get Roberts then yeah I think everyone here will be happy... but it's pretty obvious that we need a centre back in. What happens if either Bitton or Jozo get injured? we could always put Tierney at centre back but I prefer having an extra player who plays in that role
