Ajer or Bitton: Who would YOU* start vs Astana?

That is a possible. Everybody is moaning about Hayes on his out of position right side, maybe try him at left back on Wednesday. He has the speed to counter the two speedy Africans.Play Tierney at CB, and then we don't need to worry about either Bitton or Ajer.

One is not fully fit and the other is inexperienced. A club wanting to make its mark in the champions league should not be in this position. If Efe was still here he would probably be starting again, with James Forest potentially leading the line. Joke!

 

When has Lustig ever put a foot wrong at CB?

 

Amount of slack Bitton gets from some of our 'fans' is ridicilous. Played brilliant matches as CB this season of which 1 in Europe, has a bit of a night off against Thistle, and 1 tackle on Storey which, IMO, came because of Gordons behaviour and people have suddenly forgotten everything. Pathetic.

 

Ajer because he is a defender and from what ive seen he is capable.

Biton isnt that good never mimd in a role that isnt his.

 

Whoa....hold the * phone a minute! I think the guy's done ok at CB given the level of opposition and the fact it's not his natural position. I think 'brilliant' is pushing it a bit however he did well in Norway i thought as i was * when he came on. He's played what? 3 games there and has an off night....again that's not hugely confidence inspiring. I will admit i have slated him in the past in the middle for being a lazy, uninterested sod but not since he's played CB.

If pushed i would go with Ajer but i don't think Brendan will as i can't think of a reason why he wasn't given game time against Thistle if he was going to start him!

 

No brainer, Ajer. Bittion is only better when we have the ball. Plus need a better defender when playing at home so we don't give them an away goal...

 

would like to see Ayer start against Astana but think it will be Bitton.

 

Only conceded 1 goal in the 3 games since Big Bitton moved to CB.

 

It wasn't just that he lost Doolan too, showing no positional awareness allowing him to get a free header on goal..

It's a big decision for BR as he seems set on the Simunovic-Bitton partnership and hasn't played Ajer much..

If Bitton plays and has a shocker when the warning signs were evident...then the honeymoon will be over..

 

I would still prefer gamboa/ralston RB and lustig CB, if not then Ajer at CB. Looks like it will be neither tho.

 

That's a point i'd forgotten actually! He has more game time with us and Killie at CB than Bitton but did he not start as a defensive midfielder when he started at Start if you catch my drift.

 

That goal we lost v Hearts showed a lack of awareness in that position too, it was clear Simunovic wasn't getting there and he was in a position to come across and cover which he failed to do..

It's tough to learn a position like CB after three games and it's a risk to play him v Astana..

So we're getting somewhere. Right, Lustig in at CB to deal with their pacy strikers (so i'm told) and Gamboa/Ralston in for him!!

 

Ajer has played it consistently though match after match last season, rather than dipping into the position every now and again when needs must, that's a huge difference for me.

Don't get me wrong Ajer is raw in that position and too would be a risk. As stated I'd play neither..
