All of which is thoroughly depressing.

I'd like to see more fan opposition to it.

Of course it is Sween. Good post however I think this last sentence was a little loaded. It is about what is doing best for Celtic. The problem is there is a huge divide among the fans in what is best for Celtic.

Over the preseason and transfer activity I stuck up for the board more than I have ever done before and really went in to bat for them on here. I think this was a week before they refused to take tickets for Linfield and since then I have been hugely disappointed by pretty much every decision they have made.

And Chelsea and Kensington voted Labour:fear:
It's more so the members of said board trying to dictate what is right and wrong with politics at Celtic, Barcelona up until two years ago were sponsored by a charity to say all morals need to be disregarded to be a profitable football club is ridiculous.

I think it depends on the rules we are playing under. In Europe I cant see how flying IRA banners and setting off flares isnt bad for celtic. We get fined every time and it feels inevitable that eventually UEFA up the punishment. I dont get why for a handful of games fans cannot just sing songs about celtic and dont set off flares.

Domestically, as I say, I think the board are mixed up. They should either make no comment on the political stuff, or ban all political stuff outright. I dont think this is an issue around what is best for celtic but rather a debate around what celtic means to people and what the club represents. I think the board clearly want to sanitize the club to make it more marketable. Whether that is best for the club or not really depends on what you think the club is there for.

He might do but I actually think he has got obsessed a wee bit with the books not willing to put money in to guarantee bigger riches that are champions league I think is mental he can use the excuse that it's gambling with celtics finances but he gambling still by trying to get us to land of milk and honey on a shoe string

I think that by nature Mr Lawwell is a business man and as such was hired by DD to ensure the structure and financial elements of the club were secure. I think people underestimate DD hold over what is done at the club or over estimate PL autonomy

As for the political stance I think UEFA will eventually make us play behind close doors if we keep up the banners and flares and this will be to the detriment of all the fans and the club, I am not concerned in this modern era that we should make such statement sing the songs create the great atmosphere we do and if you feel you need to protest hold rallies before or after the game but don't hurt the club by doing it I. The ground.

Like someone said before there needs to be a period of games were we just go and support the team by being the greatest fans there can be and let the politics settle down to we get back in the good books.

I'd say since Lenny first came in and the transfer model of the club was altered slightly it has led us to now, Lawell likely dictated that fact and for me in terms of this shoe string budget argument I think is unfair.

It's by operating how we been these last few years that we have been able to afford without any great burden to club the likes of Hooper, VVD, wanyama, Forster, Gordon, Ntcham, Moussa Sinclair and others I can't be bothered to reel off.

If we went into a transfer market and went all in and gave clubs big fees and players big wages then should we fail to get into cl proper we'd be screwed and likely be nowhere near where we are now and while I have no issue with Hayes as I think he's a decent squad player we'd likely be signing guys of that I'll to be our star men.

Financially no one I think can or will run this club better financially, however how he treats the fans or atleast how the boars as a whole treat the fans can sometimes be questioned.

I actually wonder if we could do with q stronger PR team.

I think Lawell gets a hard time. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with all of his decisions but he doesn't let his heart rule his head, and in the modern day, to be professionally run and to have a setup envied the world over it requires sometimes 'cold' decisions to be taken.

A good barometer is that fans of Rangers and other SPFL teams despise him, he must be doing something right! By all accounts he's a big Celtic fan so it can't be easy going against his natural instincts, however he is employed to do a job. I have a feeling it will be a McCann style we don't know what he's done until he's gone thing. I remember the nonsensical vitriol directed at the wee man back in the day, fuelled by the succulent lamb lot.

We can be a bit ungrateful (football supporters in general), put it this way - look across the river at that shower - would we prefer David Murray, Craig Whyte, Charles Green or Dave King?!

    Jesus.

We certainly do not pay our players today what we would have paid them in 2004. There's no way anyone in the squad today is making the kind of wages Larson, Sutton, Thompson, Lennon, Balde, Hartson, Petrov etc were on. We have to pay them less because in relative terms our club has gotten poorer. And yet Lawwell is actually making more money now than he did in 2004. He's gone from 100k per year to 1m. Incredible.

Yup, his salary and bonuses increased substantially especially during periods of downsizing on the pitch, and that's just his payments what are Bankiers and the rest of the hangers on like.

If Lawwell is making 1m a year, then the rest of the hangers-on are making the same.

    How many are there?

Probably in the region of 10+

    We're being robbed blind.

The deferred bonuses may well roll over looking at how it jumps the next couple of years, and here is what the LTIP payment is about.

I don't think theirs will be as much, but I'm sure they all aren't there just out of their love of Celtic. :87:

    Don't be daft.

You honestly think that Lord Livingston of Parkhead (or whatever the * he was called) was earning anywhere near Lawwell, then you're mad.
