JOHN KENNEDY has told Manchester City they can trust Celtic to make Patrick Roberts better.

As SunSport exclusively revealed this week Roberts wants a return to Celts.

Hoops coach Kennedy said: “You just need to look at how much Patrick has improved in the last 18 months.

“We’re going to be in Europe again this season.

“I think when we sent him back City will have seen he is a much-improved player.

“Hopefully they will look at it from that perspective, but it’s their call.

“Patrick could maybe influence that and they could have a chat about it, but we have to take a back seat and be patient.”

Roberts is Brendan Rodgers’ No1 target, but Kennedy admitted there are other options.

He added: “If Patrick became available, great. If not there are other options, but it needs to be right. We won’t just bring a player in for the sake of it.

“If someone becomes available we know or regard highly we would try to do something

“The squad at the moment is very strong. We are in a good place, and we’re confident going into the European tie next week, so we’ll see what happens.”

Not promising in regards to a permanent deal..

At this point a deal is all we want, in whatever form.

It's purely a mental thing with a loan, the reality is Moussa is our player but we may end up having Paddy for longer who isn't if we do loan him again.

And I understand that negates the potential uplift in fees but end of the day beggars can't be choosers.

Don't care if it's another loan deal, just want to see the wee man back in the green and white.

    You're insane.

    I'd take a 6 month loan tbh.

    I just need some closure.

A few weeks ago I'd have called people insane if they actually thought this was gonna happen. Now I'm actually getting my hopes up. Cmon Paddy don't let us down :49:

I'd still take a loan deal to be honest. Players of roberts quality arn't usually available to us anyway. A permanent deal would be incredible but i wouldn't be too disappointed with a loan. A loan would kill his chances at city tho so i wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Our one saving grace is possible cl qualification,if it's a loan then this could swing it in our favour over any others , but man city seem keen on seeing how he does in the epl .
The other thing is Celtic trying to get him in before Astana on a perm deal with add ons if we qualify ,it would not really suit city to loan out for another 2 year leaving him with a year left on his contract and able to sign a pre contract with another team ,so if it's to happen im saying 3 year deal city with option to buy back.
