Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stands down as European Club Association boss: 'It's time to pass on the responsibility'

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is set to end his nine-year term as ECA chairman

He has chaired ECA since it replaced the G-14 group of Europe's biggest clubs

Rummenigge's replacement will be announced in Geneva on September 5

Ivan Gazidis, Celtic's Peter Lawwell and Ed Woodward could stand for vacancy

Could explain him stepping down from sfa/spfl thing and also explain perhaps the more extreme take on the fans recently - some will say that he would be selfish there, but I reckon perhaps long term if we had our man at that level, it would do us wonders. He would surely push for decisions that favour lesser champions getting smoother access to the GS and the likes.

But in turn, could he continue to try and keep our support on the squeeky clean? hmm.

As a career choice, well done to the guy for even getting this far. As a club concern, jury still out if it would mean we get looked on more favourable, structures in the CL perhaps become better for lesser clubs, or would he be down the road of trying to not look biased towards us?

Would only see that as a good thing personally.

    Doubt he will get it.

With who he's reportedly going against he will be doing well to get it. Wonder if he'd step down from us if he does.

They should just do away with champions routes etc and make any team who's previously won automatic entry:56:

Maybe Lawwell has just had enough of the constant infighting, bickering and abuse he gets on a yearly basis, and is ready for the off?

Not saying he hasn't contributed to it, but ffs the guy is a Celtic man, and has our best interests at heart - yet a large sect always has it in for him no matter what he does.

Doubt it really bothers him, he'll know he's doing a good job so will just be thinking these stupid * haven't got a clue.
