Being Norwegian I follow Eliteserien pretty closely. I've seen around five Rosenborg matches so far this season and we're meeting a side that's far from their standards of the early 00's. Still I would say they are a better team than both Aberdeen and Sevco and are more than capable to give us trouble on their day. Their best players this season are Tore Reginiussen (CB) and Vegard Eggen Hedenstad (RB, ex St. Pauli). Up front they got Bendtner who's not dominating the league and the Icelandic lad Vilhjalmsson who scored in extra time yesterday and been in decent form lately. Their wings de Lanlay, Jevtovic, Helland (injured) and Rashani are very inconsistent, being class one day and then go missing for one/two matches. Their star Mike Jensen have been their best player the last seasons but haven't delivered in the scoring department lately, still a great player though (17 matches, 1 goal and 6 assists in the league).

A focused and effective Celtic should beat this Rosenborg side over two matches, but my gut feeling says Rosenborg will turn up their game drastically to match us. It will be decided with the closest margins possible, in our favour of course :celt_2:

Doubt it. The game's not on the season book and they'll want as big a crowd as possible.

Dnt get it. If they want a big crowd put it on the ST and keep it off TV. They shouldn't be able to have it both ways. Need to speculate in terms to accumulate. These games are massive.

Economics unfortunately. 50k+ at £20 per ticket on average (taking into account concessions) is £1 million.

I see this as being a tricky tie, Rosenborg have always been one of those sides who can trouble you on a good day.

Still think we'll beat them over two legs, but we need to take at least a two goal lead over to Norway and then I'd take a draw over there if need be.

Hate having the first leg at home. We never kill teams off in the first leg. Need to win three nil to be happy going over to there place.

This is true, even the Hapoel Beer Sheva game last year where we won 5-2 at home almost wasn't enough when we went to Israel and lost 2-0 in the return leg.

One more goal would have put us out and we were hanging on for our lives at the end.

Need to avoid another potential banana skin like that at all costs.

From what someone else that has posted that they were slow with little agility against Dundalk will work in our favour.

With our high pressing and quick inter-link play.....these Rosenborg players may struggle to pick our men up, and will tire as the game goes on.

    I'll go for 4-0.

It'll be a harder test than Linfield that's for sure. I think it's the name rather than their current side that makes people nervous. We should still beat them, and hopefully comfortably.

I'll go for 4-1, Dembele scoring twice, Hayes getting one and Jozo getting a header in from a corner.

The second leg of this tie is on premier sport. I would imagine first leg at Celtic park will be Celtic the again.

This is a tricky tie. Rosenborg aren't as good as they once were but they can still test us. Hopefully we get the job more of less done in the first leg.

    I'm confident.

Would be shocked if we don't take goals off them.

Good post. I watched their first leg against Dundalk and most of the 2nd. I thought they looked a poor side, but it would be daft to judge them solely from those games. For instance Legia Warsaw drew at home with St pats before we played them, and Malmo drew with Zalgiris at home before knocking us and Salzburg out, so strange things can happen. Saying that, we're a different team now and I expect us to approach these games in the right manner. I'm never completely confident in our defence, but I'm fairly sure we'll come through this one.

Rosenborg's always a tough physical side and the chance is to put a number of goals past them in the first game, so we can focus down on the away form and win the away leg.

To be fair to us we have blitzed a few teams in qualification and main event over the last few years although under Ronny we always let teams back in. Malmo and Fenerbache spring to mind whilst we blitzed Hapoel last year. 2nd round qualifiers tend to be closer nervy affairs. Elfsborg, Qarabag, Astana over the last few years decided by one goal.

Rosenborg are a tricky side, but I think we'll beat 'em.
