Spot on. It is sad that some celtic fans see the behaviour of the likes of rangers or Linfield fans as a sort of benchmark to beat or a comparison point. As you say, they are dregs best ignored. Getting into a * for tat with their fans only gives them attention they dont deserve and gets celtic into trouble.

If UEFA decided they were going to fine Celtic if the fans continued doing a stadium 'huddle' or holding up scarves for 'YNWA' would you stop doing it on that basis?

It is sad that there is no high profile permanent memorial to the men - both players and supporters of Celtic - who died fighting in both World Wars.

You are more than happy for fans to cross a line that has seen the club fined before - re the superb rebel fest last night. Your concern clearly therefore can't be about harm that comes to the club by way of UEFA actions. As I said, kinda sorta seeing where your real motivations lie here.

But you know UEFA are not going to do that so what point is there in asking such a question?

The GB have a choice about the banners they display.

The club have a responsibility to educate about the songs we sing.

There is no hidden agenda here.

Thats not even an argument. You are absolutely clutching at straws. Comparing a banner with an IRA member on it to singing You'll never walk alone? Heads gone completely.

Even when you know they are inherently flawed? How obsequious.

People not liking songs and banners about the IRA is just as prevalent in the history of celtic as people who do like them. This isnt a modern, "prawn sandwich", debate. It has been around long before us.

It is a weird logic that people who want only to focus on celtic, have no interest in politics but only football, and object to behaviour that will only hurt the football team, are therefore not bought into celtics "heritage" as much as others.

You are right, your concern/agenda is certainly not over supporter actions that could potentially harm the club, that much is clear.

Personally wasn't a fan of the displays, obviously wasn't offended but I'd rather we rose above these dinosaurs stuck in the past. GB as a whole though do some fantastic things for the club and atmosphere and are worth every fine we will receive because of them

I hate when people do this. Using an analogy isn't comparing the two things in question in equality terms. His argument is, "we shouldn't avoid doing things just because UEFA fine us, we should only avoid doing them if we think they are wrong". If you want to respond to that you have to say what the relevant difference is between the two cases that make it fair to listen to UEFA in one case but not the other.

I dont think anyone is saying the Green Brigade aren't fantastic. Just in some cases they cross a line that they do not need to. Like the last day of the season and last night. No need for the flares last season and no need for the banner yesterday. As a season ticket holder who sits across from them? They are sensational.

The SFA requested Celtic to remove the tricolour in 1952, threatening them with “a fine, or closure of the ground, or suspension or all of those penalties”. Celtic refused to so.

Do those who advocate abiding by UEFA's laws despite them being inherently flawed disagree with this stance by the club? And if the SFA were to insist on it again, would you demand the flag be taken down?

So were Celtic defending or supporting a terrorist organisation in 1952?
