    Haven't actually watched any of Peter Capaldi's run. Matt Smith was good but I thought his last season sort of dragged.

    For the sake of diversity?

    Obviously people will be thinking that but who gives a * even if it was true? She's a good actress and it's something new. A female Doctor with presumably a male companion at least changes it up a bit.

    I'm not a fan of the show so won't bother me.

    But has that Ghostbusters remake feel about it...

    I think that was more on the nose though. They took the original, 4 guys, and changed it to 4 women....it was clear that the motivation was to make a female version of Ghostbusters because "look, I care about diversity".

    The Doctor changes every few years and we've seen countless males in the role so it's more of a case of "why not?"

    Like I said, at the very least it brings something new to the table.

    Stopped watching with Peter Capaldi as the dr, thought he sucked, hopefully Jodie is better. I'll give it a watch. Thought Jodie was really good in Broadchurch so I can see her being a really good doctor
