Linfeild could be looking at a hefty fine or penalty (at least) because of the bottle incident.

But it has to be said.............Griffiths did noise them up a wee bit :giggle1:

Let's not forget Red Imps a year ago, the difference in approach today from from the off was light years on from that and demonstrates the massive progress we've made in every respect, some people seem * off we didn't add more but the job was done in the first half in quite ruthless style I thought, and that was without really breaking much sweat, in all fairness to them they played much better in the second half and made it much harder for us by playing higher up.

Going on about off field stuff was hardly going to be a surprise was it, we knew what to expect even despite a * turn out in anyone's language, the Griffiths incident was indeed astonishing and I think he was genuinely rattled by the refs stupidity rather than the actual bottle, it seemed their real nasty element was in that section and surely a UEFA report and due action is justified into how Linfield as a club could not control it, the amount of fines we have had for banners and a pyrotechnic here and there there are all pretty minor compared with players not being able to take corners, only small thing I'd add was in complete fairness there did seem loads of their fans going mental in the direction of where the bottle came clearly not happy with it, as per the chairman seemingly, that's said probably more concerned about fines to their own club than any damage to our players

The problem with a lot of football fans these days, and is obviously even worse with these morons, is that they can give it but can't take it back. I have respect for any player, no matter what the club, that can take a bit of abuse and give a bit back. It is all part of the game, he didn't do anything offensive, just reminded them of the score in a football match and, in their warped minds, it means it is acceptable to try and injure someone.
I have to say that I have even more respect for Leigh after tonight, after all that abuse he took, he goes back out and casually ties a Celtic scarf to the goal, just to make sure they were frothing at the mouth. The more they can't take it, the more he winds them up.:36:

not sure why you put a "but" in there.

him winding them up does not equate to them nearly killing or seriously maiming the man.

What a * Healy is too, he defends the fans and obviously didn't see his chairmen walking directly past him to calm the knuckle dragging bigots down!

He said: “I didn’t see the incidents. I was watching the game.

“I don’t think it was ‘always going to happen’ but some of the media were making a big deal of it.

“When it does happen people aren’t going to be surprised.

“Linfield have made massive strides. You always get a red-hot atmosphere.

“I can’t wait for the second leg. I’m sure the atmosphere will be the same.

“I’ll probably need a tin hat and an armoured suit, but that’s why your the manager of a great club like Linfield.

“Brendan said ‘well done’ at the end. The way they played was exceptional early on.

“It was total football and easy on the eye. It certainly wasn’t like anything our fans will be used to.”

    * absolute scum of the earth *.

Missiles including: a half bottle a buckie, then a FULL bottle of buckie, multiple coins, a * burger roll and probably a set of false teeth all thrown at Griffiths.

But, aye........book him for time wasting.

Lawwell and Co better have been straight on the phone to UEFA to demand answers to why Griffiths was given ZERO protection, and actually PUNSIHED for complaining to the referee about his own personal safety.

This is a problem now in football. So many wee jessies wanting to clype on each other. It's pathetic.

What an absolute *, what will he need an armoured suit for? Deflecting attention away from the behaviour of the Linfield fans before * off to have another pint with some other loyalist soldiers down the knee-breakers. You can see he is from 'ra Ranjurs' stock alright.

Exactly what I was saying earlier and I'm pretty sure that rat Smyth didn't get booked after his horror tackle on Armstrong at the end.

Mind boggling. Barca fans haven't got fond memories of the mutant either!

Hold on... must have been about 150 fans in our end that had home end tickets what difference would it have made with a few thousand ? Like seriously what is the difference instead of the numbers Celtic fans where still there and could have still been in danger no matter if it’s 150 or 1,500

Well, when the ref books your player because a bottle was thrown at him. And books another player because he reacted to a red card challenge on him, what hope do you have?

Only one i will say for sure, is brown deserved his yellow.
