    FORMER Celt Raymond McStay has thanked Kieran Tierney for his poignant tribute to his dad John – and revealed his father’s pride at discovering the left-back.

    Ex-Hoops scout John McStay – also the father of Parkhead legend Paul – passed away on Friday.

    And Tierney took to Twitter to pay tribute to “the man who made it all possible” for him.

    John was responsible for bringing the Bhoys star to the Glasgow giants when he was just seven.

    Fans’ favourite Tierney has since gone on to make 75 appearances for his boyhood heroes, lifting two league titles, a Scottish Cup and League Cup and earning four Scotland caps.

    Raymond – the younger brother of ex-Hoops coach Willie – also revealed he treasured Tierney’s jersey.

    The 47-year-old wrote: “Only one Celtic jersey made it on his wall and it wasn’t any of ours! Thanks for your lovely tribute.”

    Watching this video highlights just how many of his "crosses" are actually pinpoint passes to a team-mate, as opposed to the hopeful lob into the box that most full backs settle for.

    I mind saying before on here that he was the best passer of a ball in our squad easily but people disagreed.

    For me the weight and accuracy of his passing or crossing is superb especially in the final 3rd of the pitch which is the most difficult area to pick passes out as it's more crowded thats what seperated him from the rest. He has a great range of passing that mostly goes unnoticed because of his style of play.

    He also puts good pace in his passes which shows the confidence in his ability, doesn't float or roll balls about in the style of a Caldwell or Bitton.
