Southampton always have a replacement lined up whether it's management or players. They normally get it spot on as well so considering they've sacked a guy who, despite not instilling great confidence towards the end of last season especially, got them a respectable 8th place finish and a cup final, I expect the next guy to do well with them.

Tuchel is the replacement apparently very good appointment considering the youth Southampton like to develop

If they somehow managed to bring in Tuchel it would be the signing of the summer.

He could have a decent budget to work with as well, if they sell Van Dijk which they most likely will he could get about £80million to spend.

Saw rumours of Conte leaving, weird, though the situation at Chelsea now is very change as Mourinho was also unhappy with how they were performing in the transfer window. Not so long ago Chelsea just outspent everyone and signed who they wanted, whereas in recent years they've been selling as much as they've been spending while also losing out on players and not really being a step ahead of the rest like they once were. Alonso and Luiz were both very late additions last summer and although both ended up doing exceptionally well, Luiz especially was far down the pecking order. Similar to Mourinho's last summer where they signed guys like Begovic, Baba and Falcao, who improved their depth but didn't improve on their first team.

Roman is better off doing everything in his power to appease Conte, they've got an excellent manager there. If it means getting rid of Costa and bringing in Lukaku to make him happy then you do it in my opinion.

The Costa situation is also rather understandable, Costa almost disrupted their title challenge and his head wasn't really fully focused after the China rumours. Conte nows sees him as a liability and feels he let down his teammates and the club by his actions and Conte isn't the type to just forgive and forget.

Isn't he a bit hopeless as a manager?

A good while yet. Lot of Blues wouldn't be surprised if he fails to come back from that. Properly anyway. I remember being at Bolton watching James Vaughan literally snap his ankle in two and a fairly decent prospect was never the same after that. Vice versa for Jack Collison at West Ham.

In other news, is it me or does the new Palace Manager FDB have wierd eyes? His pupils dont dilate in synch with each other... they are also very deep set, at least the left one @Minty @KevMan

Romelu Lukaku isn't Champions League quality. * with back to goal, poor touch and nearly never ever scores in big games or rarely does away from home.

Four-in-a-row at Ajax isn't bad, and they weren't exactly a title winning side before he arrived (no league since 04). Inter are a basket case and he wasn't ideally placed replacing Mancini as late as August, though he did make mistakes.

He's got less * ups to his name than Koeman does (Benfica, Valencia, AZ).

Good while yet lad. Shame he is out, as someone from an Everton background, he is vital to Everton's progress.

Clearly Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman have had a few too many shandy's celebrating signing Keane, Pickford and Klaasen. At the wages Rooney will be on, this is lunacy. Past his best although still has an excellent football brain + has won everything and the Everton squad has * itself in big games before and has lacked winners so many times when its needed them in winning/faltering positions.

If they were to get Rooney in on a permanent basis, I imagine he'd need to take a huge pay cut (which would still see him pick up probably £150k p/w?). He'd be a great player for them, even if he's (imo) done at the highest level in fitba.

Like you say mate, being from an Everton background myself, I can agree there is definetly pros and cons to it. Word around the campfire is it would be a loan deal as that way Everton would only pay a proportion of his wages
