I agree. Political point scoring isn't exactly what people should be doing right now. This would have happened if labour where in power, the cons, or the * green party.

Mate it pains me to say it, but everything about it is political, vote for safer housing or not, residents are reported to have complained time and again for 2 years about the safety concerns.

It is councillors and the local authority that ignore this, would this have still happened, yes probably, would the effects possibly been reduced or more contained if the building had a working sprinkler system, quite possible.

Could it have been contained even more if not for the decision of either Boris or the gov to close 10 fire stations around the area, 50/50 maybe given they had issues with ladders only going to the 11th floor I think.

This whole thing is a * travesty and the politicians in charge now or in past when residents concerns were ignored should be at the forefront of everyone's anger and have the finger squarely pointed in their direction.

Nice to see the queen doing the rounds, sure that will be a boost. Wonder if the 400 odd million we paid for her palace upgrade was punted on flammable cladding.

Guy should be an MP, mind probably has to much integrity.
One of the tenants being interviewed yesterday by the bbz said a lot of similar stuff, but the oul cow interviewing him kept butting in saying 'you can't say that'.
Stick a camera and mic in his face, don't let him speak his mind, reduce him to tears because she wouldn't let him say what he wanted. Then the witch give him the worst fake hug I've ever seen.
All she want ed to hear was about babies being thrown form Windows and people jumping from them and did you see anyone * burn.

I'm fairly sure william will at least visit the survivors, and if he does fair play. Also it will blow away Mays security advice of not to visit.

The government is to blame with all there cuts and closing down fire stations and blocks of flats should be fitted with smoke detectors and a sprinkler system.
Theresa may does mistake after mistake and not meeting any residents yesterday is a slap in the face to the dead and injured and she should go .

The political aspect of this is pretty sad. Look at the front page of the tabloids today. The sun front page reports on Sadiq Kahn being booed. The Record reports on May not caring, and the Mail reports that may have been green targets that caused the fire. It is all bollocks and these horrible papers should give it a rest.

That said, that this happened to poor people living in one of the richest areas in the world is pretty startling and it has really highlighted the gulf that exists in london between rich and poor to many who havent been there in a while.

The Sun as usual were the most shocking, they just had to get the blackened handprints on the walls and the dead body wrapped in tarpaulin, they are the lowest of the low.

I never read it but apparently a hospital has reported them to the watchdog today as a reporter of theirs impersonated a friend or relative of a survivor to get an interview with them. I really have no idea why people buy the Sun.

Read online that two Sun reporters tried to pretend they were family members of some of the victims to gain access to the hospital...could be * but really wouldn't surprise me.

    Just seen Sween commented this!

With around 70 odd listed as missing, many still critical in hospital, i think we will be looking at over 100 dead.

this is the same woman who wouldnd do a live debate about the election because she wanted to get out and meet people but didnt have the decency to meet the families of victims.

It does feel like a complete failure to manage the situation, based on reports at least. For the wellbeing of these people to depend on the kindness of the public rather than the council or state is very wrong. For a borough in London, it really shouldnt be that hard to look after the people impacted.

May has set up a £5m fund for victims and their families.

A bit * late but welcome news nonetheless.
