We will have Hayes and Forrest for left wing. Two players for one position. We have bent over backwards to make the Hayes deal happen giving them cash and players. He isn't back up .

 

Hayes won't be the replacement for Paddy, I'm sure of that.

 

He's a very good player, but your point is still vaild.

 

He absolutely will be. Plays the same position in the same manner.

 

Wasn't too keen on this at first but I think he'll do a good job for us when required. Not gonna get better to come and sit on our bench.

 

Hayes won't be a Roberts replacement.

It's a case of getting a winger in early doors for the CL qualifiers. It would be daft going into them with only Sinclair, Forrest and GMS.

If we put all our eggs into the one basket with Roberts then we could be left in a fairly precarious position come July/August.

 

Quite happy with this. He'll be a very capable back up.

 

Would be a huge downgrade. If and when we replace Paddy, we'll be buying a player of quality that can take us up a level. Confident of that....

 

Everycunt needs to calm down about this Hayes is Paddy replacement, sorry lads but we dont know that, you are all going to look awful silly if we sign both, i posted 2 teams in another thread yesterday and i think thats the players we will line up with come the close of the window, only my opinion though nothing concrete or any of the "in the know" pish

Celtic have agreed a deal with Aberdeen to sign Jonny Hayes, with Ryan Christie going the other way on loan, according to Sky sources.

The Hoops had been battling with Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City to sign the 29-year-old winger, but the Bluebirds withdrew their offer last week.

The Championship club are understood to have been frustrated by the lack of progress after tabling a bid of £750,000 offer rising to £1.2m for the Republic of Ireland international, but Celtic tabled a similar bid.

The 29-year-old began his career in Reading's academy but he never made a senior appearance for the Royals and signed for Leicester in 2007.

Hayes struggled for game time at the Foxes and spent time on loan at Northampton and Macclesfield before joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a free transfer in 2009.

After three years in the Highlands he moved East to Aberdeen, for whom he has made over 200 appearances and scored 30 goals.

 

He sort of ruins the good looking squad we've assembled though

 

Not going to be pleased with this unless we sign Paddy too.

I can accept Hayes as backup, but not as a first choice.

 

Hayes will prove so many on here wrong Sinclair, Forrest, Hayes & bigger name signing (roberts please)
