Stadium Redevelopment rumor

As stated, only a rumor.

Celtic have employed architects to give them revised costings and feasibility reports relating to redevelopment of their Main Stand.

Previous plans would have seen redevelopment of the old structure and the addition of another tier. It would have taken Celtic Park up for around 75,000 capacity and meant the stadium achieved Uefa 5 star status.

The timing could be given the club has an extremely large waiting list for season tickets.

Don't think we would redevelop the south stand. Sixty thousand is about right. We'd could get more for Champions League games and games against the zombies and maybe Aberdeen but not for run of the mill league games

 

When it says revised mabye it is just so we gave a good idea of how much it would cost to do it even if it is not high on the agenda. I think their is a lot more we should do to the stadium before something like this

 

What do you think we should be doing?

 

Phil Mac mentioned this a bit ago, the aim being to raise attendance and make us qaulify to hold champ league final

 

Last year we couldnt fill 60 so i doubt after one good season were going to increase the capacity.

 

Unless the board know that our time in spfl is coming to an end

A lot of factors come into that like single seats sporadically placed everywhere and alot of people going in twos or fours if they do another tier will have the option if better views it's the waiting list aswell think what another 7000 season tickets could do

It could be looking at more safe standing areas, how much it would cost to reinforce the stand and add the rail seats. If anything is actually happening.

 

Only way we could host CL final would be as a 5* graded stadium

Only way to be upgraded would be to have an underground entrance, not more seats.

 

The tunnel would need to be made bigger and the space in general for the dressing rooms and the roof on North stand would need to be remodelled as their is poles that obstruct views that help hold the roof

I also heard something about we'd need an indoor warm up facility, I can just picture big Pedro sitting with the calculator

 

Is ibrox still classed as 5 star

 

I think when they redeveloped the old Celtic Park they did the footings under the North Stand ready for any future development. I wonder what it would cost though, be interesting to know.

 

Nah mate, it's in the ' steaming pile of *' classification.

 

The star system has been replaced by the category system.

Not sure what Ibrox is under that.

 

Yeah that changed awhile ago did it not?
Think they lost what they considered to be the top grade when this happened.

Along with no doubt some structural issues now, it would seem that they could only host europa due to capacity
We could host either based on that, but dont see criteria of what else needs to be officially met.
