He can play right or left, but he isn't better than Sinclair or Forrest. Must just be a back up. If 2 million is correct it's a lot of money for back up. Just have to trust Brendan, he's done okay so far.

I see peoples point when saying Hayes won't be the answer for europe. But I think our current squad is more than capable of making the group stage of the champions league, we did it last year.

The last 16 is another matter, we'll always need a bit of luck to achieve that, no matter what we spend.

Look at the money that was thrown at the MON team, and that team failed to make the last 16, and there's no way we're spending that sort of money now.

I'm hoping and expecting to make the group stage, anything else really is a bonus for me.

If we are possibly (just my opinion) getting somewhere in the region of between £10-£12m (plus possibly percentage of van Dijk sale) for this transfer window, and Rodgers only wants about 4 or 5 players, then £1.2 million on Hayes is literally * all for a player who will improve our SQUAD.

Buying him is one way to get the * to stop scoring screamers against us.

I struggle to think of another domestic based player who's scored as consistently against us.

At first when I heard about it, I was a bit underwhelmed.

Then I sat back and thought of how much of a * pest he has been against us ant most times over his years in Scotland with Caley Thistle, and then Aberdeen.

Always been one who has a right good go at us, plus he's still * rapid for a 29 year old.

We will get 3 good year out of him still, easy.

He's a bit like a faster Kris Commons in terms of what he offers.

3 I can think of. One where Virgil got sent off up there and the latest 2..

Always done well against us though and it's his tracking back that's impressed me more than his goals..

About 10 to 15 player's gonna be departing this summer so why people can't see we'll need some decent squad player's is beyond me..

    He's quicker than I remember :43:

And looks as though he'd be comfy on either of the wings.

I think this a purely tactical/plan B signing which as long as we get a few other quality players im fine with.

Sinclair and Roberts are both inside forwards whos first thought is a one on one skill and take it past the defender cut in and shoot. Some premier league teams this season have managed to keep those quiet(on the rare occasion)

I think we are bringing him in with the idea of him and Forrest being available to be wingers as such and hit the byline and cross the ball in the box as a tactical thing for when teams tire in the last 10 minutes or in games where he feels it be more suited to the wingers. I also think both Hayes and Forrest could play as wing backs in a 3-5-2 much more comfortably than Roberts and Sinclair.

On the surface this deal didnt make sense but the more I think about it the more it may make sense.

The screamer that stopped Forster's record, pretty sure he had a couple at Caley as well.

    From the Scottish Sun:

ABERDEEN star Jonny Hayes has agreed terms with Celtic, according to reports.

The Press and Journal claims the winger will sign a three-year deal with the Invincible Treble winners once the future of Hoops ace Ryan Christie, on loan at Dons last season, is resolved.
