folk need to relax , hayes is in no way signed with Europe in mind, domestically he'll be fine and will possibly start before big euro games keep Sinclair and paddy fresh for the midweek games

I think folk forget that at points during this season Roberts couldn't even get a game due to the form of James Forrest.

So let's just drop this whole panic nonsense because it's rumoured were signing Jonny Hayes as a replacement for Roberts.

We require hard working players in the entire SQUAD - unfortunately guys like Mackay-Steven aren't cutting the mustard, so there is absolutely no harm in bringing in a guy like Hayes into the SQUAD if the manager thinks he will bring something we don't have already.

Totally agree,I can't see how Hayes will improve our team. Happy to be proven wrong though.

    If that's what it takes.

It's the potential we're paying for.

Could Hayes develop into a better player than Roberts or Sterling? Who knows but we can always try to find out.

Like a lot of folks I'm a bit underwhelmed at this, decent player but for backup I'd have thought we'd have promoted a youngster or brought in a cheaper (or free) option and save the cash for the first team replacements.

Brendan knows a lot more about players than we do though so I think we gotta trust him on this and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

All will be forgotten when he scores a thunderbastard of a strike in the CL play-off to send us through.

Brendan has ready said he would like 2 players for every position, with the youth players making up the 3rd backup player.

We currently have only 3 wingers who have been in and around the first team - Sinclair, Forrest and Mackay Steven.

GMS will likely be moved on, so we need cover plus a first teamer.

The season has only just finished, folk really need to calm the * down...

Hayes has always been a wee pest against us over the years and has scored a couple of absolute belters against us.

His fee is cheap, so there is absolutely no gamble in this signing.

Hayes got 11 goals and 24 assists to his name this season. Those stats speaks for it self. If he could replicate that form for us next season I'll be more than happy.

But in all seriousness, I don't think Hayes would be a bad signing if the price is right. Nothing more than 1m though.

He's not a replacement for Roberts, he'd a replacement for GMS who quite simply doesn't have the bottle or dig to play for Celtic, though he is a nice wee lad.

Yes in the SPFL, we need better to help progress in Europe, and if Christie goes the other way then it's an even worse deal.

He may be primarily back up, but wouldn't rule him out on the CL stage either tbh. Doesn't matter who you are, Hayes with space running at you will cause problems.

What has Christie contributed to us?

He isn't going to get ahead of Rogic, Amrstrong or McGregor, and isn't good enough out wide.

If Chrisite is sold as part of the deal then it is bad business.

Christie looks like a lad with a lot of potential, I'd want to keep him.
