Guys fair enough some arent too impressed but if you look to enhance the european squad then aye fair enough but we need to enhance the spfl squad too we got lucky this season with zero bad injuries mostly hammys at worst (if memory serves me right) but if Hayes an upgrade on GMS, Allan and Ciftci 100% fair enough they play different positions but sell the 3 of them and get £1m thats yer hayes money covered.

Think we all need to wait and see, look last season we got 3 blue chip signings; Dembele, Sinclair and Toure and got back up in Gamboa and De Vries.

See if we got the same again this season and backup is Hayes and A.n. Other and we get say a Lucas, Roberts and Fischer or of that ilk then who are we to argue.

But unlike that mob across the water i genuinely think teams would buy GMS, Janko, Allan, Ciftci if the price is right.

Just my opinion on it, few players looked jaded in the final few weeks of the season.

think some need to stop acting like we are Real Madrid or Monaco tbh, let Brendan do what Brendan does and get on with it he knows the score.

Hayes, even at a million odd, is decent business for me.

Probably the most dangerous player in the league outwith us, and probably the only current player in the league who has any sort of scoring return against us and both Rangers. From memory I can recall 3 goals he's scored against us (2 this season, one last), one this season vs Sevco and a screamer for ICT against the huns way back. Could be more, but that's all I remember. Not outstanding, but decent enough compared to other SPL wingers.

Could be wrong, but I don't seem to remember as many people being as negative towards GMS when he was linked. It's as if now that Rodgers is here we expect even more, which is fair enough, but if anything, with our wage bill much higher, this is the type of signing we should expect as back up. We can either have two similarly good players on 20k each a week, or one (Sinclair) on substantially higher with his back up on significantly less (Hayes). Gone are the days of having Hartson, Larsson, Sutton - But even back then we signed SPL guys like David Fernandez (Also a £1m signing) for back up.

Hayes is proven at our domestic level, much better than GMS for me, a grafter, gives us natural width that we don't have on the left and an option from the right also.

He's by no means a world beater, I'm dismayed at the thought of Fischer or anyone we're linked with replacing Roberts never mind Hayes, but as back up and for squad depth I'm pretty comfortable with it.

My main problem with Hayes is I don't want it to be a swap for Christie and money, I don't think that would be worth it at all.

But I wouldn't be totally against him coming in and providing backup, I'm sure he even do a good job in the league when we needed him.

Bottom line is I think we all trust Brendan enough to know that he'll do what's right, and what's best for the team :brendy:

Can't see any negatives in this, unless we give them Christie.

£1 million is nothing in football today and the boss obviously likes the look of him.

He'll push Forrest and Sinclair (or whoever we have), so hopefully their form won't dip next season.

Wrong, 1 million to us is still a lot of money we might have good finances but it's still a decent fee, I trust Brendan though

Just can't get excited for this at all. And actually didn't think he was that old.
    I do trust brendan though.
But if hayes is coming in then he is back up to sinclair. If forrest stays and we look for another right winger in fischer i think that kills the paddy roberts talk.

Which as much as i want paddy back, i would be happy with that scenario.

Its a long time since we could trust the board to do the right thing. Last year they did it, i worry a little that they could drop their support a little. But that is purely my own fears and based on nothing else.

Hayes is fine if we're looking for squad players to give the stars a rest during the season, whilst we win our 7th in a row.

If, however, we' want to progress in Europe, then we need to be signing better players.

I didn't say it wasn't a lot of money to us. I said it's not a lot of money in football.

Meaning, that's his price, if we want him we'll need to pay it because if we don't, another team will.

I should have been more clear tbh :84:

After being promised a few players of genuine quality this would be a hugely disappointing signing.

You would go to £5m for Hayes?

The more I've thought about it the more I've warmed to him coming tbh. Understandable why some aren't happy about it but he'll only be for backup and I don't think we'd be able to get better to come sit on our bench.

Nah, it's not, as the first thing that Brendan's doing after going a full season unbeaten domestically you think that'd earn the slightest bit of trust in him.
