Don't get me wrong I think Christie has earned his right to have a crack in a CAM role, but he's not a wide player imo.. I'd be * off if he was part of the Hayes deal.

 

I thought Hayes would be playing on the right?

 

Brendan has earned my unconditional trust in whatever he decides is best for us.

That said Hayes would be a very underwhelming signing considering we are looking to 'tweak' the squad with 'quality players' geared to make the difference in the CL, which I'm not convinced he can.

All the more perplexing considering he's 30 soon. I hope this is nothing more than column-inch filling rabble.

There's no reason for us to buy 30 year old winger from Aberdeen, who's been in around in this league for the last 8 seasons. If we thought that he was good, he would be our player long time ago. He'd maybe be an useful backup, but we have guys like Mickey Johnstone or Calvin Miller who can play that role and develop.

Johnny Hayes won't make us better, he won't make a difference in Europe, he won't magically improve at 30 years of age and become a world beater. Spending money and adding Christie to finish this deal, as suggested in that article, would be absolutely ridiculous.

 

Guy on the huddleboard claims Hayes is a done deal from a "source close to the deal".

Decent squad player. Loads of fight about him.

The martin O'Neill years were made up of loads of these type of spl signings i.e. Momo sylla, ulrik Laursen, ran Douglas, didier agathe, Sanchez Broto etc.

Some were better than others obviously, but I think it's a decent signing. He's probably Aberdeen's best player.

 

He might be useful to bring on when we are drawing 1-1 on a wet Saturday afternoon against a parked bus

 

See nothing wrong with this, one of the few SPL players who've really caught my eye outside of us. Dynamic, good engine and is a hard-worker which could be a good addition to the team.

 

Hayes is better and more consistent that both GMS and Forrest and will be great cover for both wings, and he can do a turn at LB. It is a No Brainer for me.

 

The six ties are big but I'd add two cup finals too that list and possible 2 semi's against sevco the 4 games against sevco in league 4 against aberdeen and 4 against hearts plus The 6 games in the qualifiers that's makes 26 decent important games to our season

Underwhelmed by this. Doesn't fit the model and we can get better.

 

Been thinking about this. We'll pay a low fee and relatively low wages for a decent squad player who's proven in our league. He isn't an upgrade but could do a job for us. Even if he flops, it would be no worse than the likes of:
