What's this about Brendan speaking to Hayes after the Cup final?

Went up to him at the FT whistle and had a word, could have literally been about anything as Hayes had a good game plus him and Rodgers worked together at Reading back in the day.

I think it could be the press putting it all together tbh.

I'd take him, very productive player, far better than Forrest.

Christie ain't a winger, I'd still like Christie to stay.

I'd take him as GMS replacement, but would be absolutely gutted if we went into next season with Sinclair, Forrest and Hayes as our only first team wingers.

Sinclair/Hayes and Roberts/Forrest would be good in terms of having two players for each position.

The thing is, after what he has done this season, Rodgers could sign Clint Hill as our new first choice left winger and I'd still trust him TBH.

Would rather the youngsters like Johnstone, Miller, Atchieson etc are used for back up and we sign a better quality winger to replace Paddy.
I like Hayes but can't see much in this tbh.

Would've took Hayes maybe 7 years ago, don't think he is any better than Forrest,he just stands out more at Aberdeen because the players playing around him are of a lower standard than the Celtic players, christies a decent player but has struggled at Celtic but he stands out a mile in the Aberdeen side as one of their top players
Wee Forrest been a bit unlucky he had a great first half of the season kept wee paddy out who struggled at first to get going but wee paddy on fire second half of season and Forrest struggled near the end but naturally everyone will remember the latter part of the season more vividly

Don't know why everyone seems to think he'd be coming in to be first choice winger.

GMS will be shipped out and Hayes will take his place as backup winger and the squad will be better for it.

    Why are people against that?

Rodgers talked about Quality signings to ascend us to the next level for Europe. Not squad players.

I don't think that will change, we're still going to get 1-2 quality signings, I have no doubt.

But if we can replace a squad player with a better one, why not?

Well I still don't think he would improve our starting 11 but if it's for rotational purposes then I guess I wouldn't necessarily be against it but like I previously said on here if we are looking to progress in Europe Hayes is not the answer. What kind of fee would the Sheep be looking?

Probably about 1 million. I think he is a direct replacement for Roberts to be honest.

Underwhelming if that is the reality.

There's not a chance in * he'd be Roberts' replacement.

I don't even think we are interested.

Rodgers has had a word with him after every game against them this season im sure.

Definitely remember it at Pittodrie in the 1-0 game and the LC final

Hayes will be 30 in a month, compared to Paddy who is 20 and has his best years ahead of him. As a winger, age is generally more crucial when signing a player and pace tends to rapidly decrease after you hit 30. There is no way he is a 'direct replacement' for Roberts no matter how much I love Jonny Hayes and how hard he works.
