This for me as well. Really up against it that day. At the shitpit, down to ten men, losing 2-1, and there is Broonie with the left peg. And the celebration! That, as you say, was a great moment.

One slack pass I can remember but other than that it was a stroll in the park and nice game to step back in to..

Glad he's won a personal award. He deserves it after this season.

Brendan Rodgers on his captain winning the award: “It’s thoroughly deserved. He has been inspirational this year."

BR: "Important you have that chemistry between you & your captain, & pretty clear early on that he was top-class in his outlook."

BR: “Importantly, for me, his performance levels on the field have been absolutely sensational."

BR: "Not only in how he has led the team, but he has been a real catalyst for the football idea we have tried to impose onto the team."

BR: "Thankfully, someone has recognised the fantastic achievement he has had this year, and, surprisingly, it was from you guys!"

BR on the chance of Scott Brown becoming a treble-winning captain: "It would be very deserving. He has been remarkable. Has never let-up."

BR: "It would bring a great climax for him, and it would be very fitting of a captain of his quality to do that."

SB: "I just have to thank all the players for helping me out and digging me out a hole now and then."

SB: "The whole team has been fantastic all season. Not just about me."

SB: "We are a lot fitter than we ever have been, scoring more goals, creating more chances. We look a right good team."

SB: "The gaffer asked me how long I felt I could keep playing for and I thought maybe 2 years at the highest level."

SB: "But now I feel I can go on for 3 or four years easily."

SB on Celtic's consistency: "We have set standards all the way through the season and now need to maintain them, two huge games left."

SCOTT Brown has paid tribute to his Celtic team-mates after he was named the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership Player of the Year.

The 31-year-old has been outstanding for the Bhoys during a record-breaking season in which they have swept all before to stand on the brink of only the fourth domestic treble in the club’s history.

And another stellar showing from the captain on Thursday night helped the champions consign Partick Thistle to a 5-0 defeat at Firhill, stretching their unbeaten domestic run since the start of the season to 45 matches ahead of Sunday’s league climax against Hearts.

“It’s great,” he said. “For me, it’s just thanks to all the players for helping me out and digging me out a hole now and then. The whole team has been fantastic the whole season. It’s not just about me. When Scotty (Sinclair) and Kieran (Tierney) spoke at the PFA Awards and our own awards, they said it was about the team performance. That’s why we have been so solid this season.

“For us, we are a lot fitter than we probably ever have been. We are scoring more goals, we are creating more chances and we are just looking like a right good team. We are all working together and closing people down, we are playing with high intensity just what the gaffer wants us to do and we have been managing to do that week-in, week out.”

Playing some of the best football of his life, Brown now believes he still has plenty of years left at the top, in contrast to when he first sat down with Brendan Rodgers last summer following the Irishman’s appointment to the Celtic hot-seat.

“I feel just as fit as I ever have been,” he said. “Last season I struggled with injury and now I feel like I can go on for two or three seasons more. I am enjoying my football and playing with a smile on my face.

“I spoke to the gaffer and he had asked for how long he felt I could keep playing for and back then I thought two years at the highest level but now I feel I can go for three or four years easily. As long as I’m still playing, enjoying it and as fit as I am, I don’t see why not.

“Against Partick there in the 91st minute, I have ended up as a left-winger, trying to close the goalie down, which has never been seen before from me in the last five or six years. When Nir (Bitton) came on, he sat in front and I made a run in behind so it shows I still have that energy and desire to keep going for 90-95 minutes.”

Foremost in Brown’s mind, however, is tomorrow’s clash with Hearts in Paradise as the Celts aim to make history by going the entire league campaign unbeaten.

“We have set standards all the way through the season and now we need to maintain them,” said the skipper. “We have two huge games left and we need to make sure we set our goals for the next two games, maintaining the standards we have been playing at, pressing and the amount of ball possession we have had. We need to keep going.

“We have one big game to go in the league at home, and I’m sure the fans will be with us for the 90 minutes and hopefully we can do it.”

Well deserved plaudits after his efforts this season. Would have been a shame if the history books had nothing official to prove how well he's played.

Easily his best season for Celtic IMO.

Still hard to get my head around his drastic turn in form from last season to this.

Aye so it is! It's down to Brendan and having a proper manager in who can actually do the * job!

There's no way he retires on 9IAR, IMO he will do 10IAR and then announce a retirement
