After witnessing the first half on Saturday i am convinced we could/will still win the league. The problem we had before the game was we didn't know if we had the heart to pick ourselves up from some shocking performances and really get stuck in against the scum. I think we proved that we can.

The fact is we were unlucky not to go in at the break a couple of goals up, and we were given a sucker-punch that we failed to recover from. These things happen all the time in football and we can vouch for that more than most other teams, so the fact we walked away from mordor with 0 points was down to misfortune if you ask me.

We have players who can stick the ball in the back of the net and if we can stay focused and play every game as if it were the Champions League final we have a great chance of retaining the title.

So to any hun * reading this, choose your words on this board very carefully because we are Celtic and we all know that it's never over till it's over when Celtic are involved :shamrock:

Exactly, thats what I've been tryin to tell people on this forum. Theres still 24 points to play for. I think it's longer than we all think.

Really surprised to see you post that Squire..
I can see it that way also.. 2 through balls played a little less hard in the first half , or at the very least a striker who moves when he expects a through ball to be played and we'd have been 2-0 up..

Performances often get clouded by results and when we were winning games with late goals we were classed as a team that never gives up , but for many of us we were a team that never looked like scoring untill the opposition started to tire..

We were more than equal in the first half on Saturday.. I was half-canned while watching the game but came on here at half-time and said I still felt we would win the game.. thats how optimistic I was from that first half show , but the second half was so flat , and again it was a case of waiting for the manager to do something..

I wouldn't say it was misfortune..

Their goal could have been prevented by at least 3 players , one of them being Boruc who turned away from the shot , closed his eyes and lifted himself off the ground , just enough for the ball to go under him..

Skippy should never have been held back till 80 minutes was on the clock.. Did we relly need a 4 man defence in the second half anyway ?
With about 75 minutes gone the ball was camped in and around the huns 18 yard box for a good 5 to 10 minutes.. They were hoofing the ball clear to their one man up front.. A more ruthles manager would have turned that pressure into a goal.. I agree with others that we got what we deserved.. The credit and blame usually belongs to the manager.. He takes the hit for this defeat , and I hope it hasn't changed your views on Strachan.. A change will do the club good.. :50:

Well my view was and still is that if he can't win the league he should walk. But i do think that given the position we are now in, if he pulls it off he will have deserved another bite at the cherry next season.

If he pulls it off I'll pull him off.. :97:

Nah , seriously if he's to be manager for next season then he needs to learn from mistakes of this season.. 5 strikers are needed to rotate throughout the season.. Lawell doesn't sell any players over his head once the season has begun , unless they are surplus to requirements.. :97:
He plays players for the benefit of the team , regardless of how he feels about them as people.. He needs a good mixture of skilled players and grafters.. If he sorts that out then we'll be looking at four in a row..

big difference between being positive and showing a sense of realism here. How we supposed to win the league if we cant score goals against a very poor rangers team. Every games a struggle for us now its simply unnacceptable to be second to that mob! Can always hope but thats all it is, isnt even in our hands anymore and that not good enough foir celtic!

Very poor rangers team is a bit harsh, they are solid and effective, if not pretty to watch.

1 type of player we have lacked is the goal scoring midfielder.
Can't think of too many times recently when a midfielder has scored while breaking through the centre of the oppositions defence.. Brown gets in positions but rarely ever has power of accuracy to test a keeper.. Mcgeady is relied upon too much.. Naka gets space infield to take a shot from about 20 - 25 yards but for some reason he takes an extra touch instead of shooting and the chance is gone..
Apart from him hitting the post against Dundee Utd , Hartley smacking the post in the cup game with Aberdeen , and Sno blasting a shot down the throat of the Aberdeen keeper I can't think of many other times recently when any of our midfielders have come close to scoring.. Not enough goals from midfield (Mcgeady aside) has been a problem this year..

Agree we have always had goal scoring midfielders not many in there now and when your goalscorers are strugglin for goals there no one else to chip in with a few rom midfield or even defence!

Even if we beat Rangers twice we need to beat every chunt else as well, can't see it happening. I have always defended WGS but I think his time is probably up. Everyone knows how the huns are going to set up, but for whatever reason wgs doesn't have the tactical nouse to come up with something different and beat Rangers, a bit like Tommy Burns.

Applaudable optimism but all the first half on Saturday did was prove that we don't have the guts or the guile to capitalise when we're the better team.

Football is results not statistic or performance driven and it's been our ultimate downfall this season to the huns.

I admire you mate, but really, the league isn't in our hands anymore. For us to win the league we need a favour from 4 other SPL teams

i hope we can pull it of but the chance of it are slim. gs doesn't have the balls to say hes wrong and change the team drop players stop trying to keep them happy we are a massive club shouldn't have to try and keep players happy. they are lucky to be at such a big club

You're quite right although theres nothing between McGeady and Nakamura when it comes to goals per game.
