Class act, and has been since his days at Notts County. However, he is one average game away from most on here saying he is "a squad player at best".

McGregor has turned over a new leaf with those two back to back goals against Rangers, and that supreme goal he got today shows the confidence is just streaming through him now. Surely that we naff Strachan can't ignore him much longer, did the same with Griffiths until his job was at stake.

That's * mental mate, Donati used to break * in half. Mind Mowbray played him as a centre back and he was hard as * nails :56:

I have to say I wasn't a big fan of McGregor but I'm gradually coming round. I can't deny that there are parts of his game I like immensely. He's very good at receiving the ball, is good in tight space, has tidy feet and can get into great positions. But I hate his decision-making and final ball. He really needs to work on that and stop being so greedy at times.

As to whether or not he'd be rated higher if he was Spanish, I don't know. I tend to think there might be something in that argument. For instance, look at how Guedtti was fawned over while we had a better striker at the club in Griffiths. All sorts of embarrassing myths were construed to justify that stupidity.

I like him. I just don't know if we can trust him as a big game player. He is very good technically no doubt about that but as others have said his intelligence of what to do with that when the pressure is on leave's a little bit put off him.

He is still young though and no doubt will continue to improve under a teriffic coach like brendan. Here''s hoping he starts to lift his head when on the ball a bit more.

Think he's got like 5/6 European goals for us and a couple against Der Hun. Not a bad record for a 23 year old central midfield squad player.

I can remember him scoring a couple not 5/6. You might be right though.

I think you've got a point. Young Scottish players always get harsher criticism the moment it doesn't go well, in my opinion.

Superb goal from him today. Let's not forget he's still only 23 so plenty time to develop more. Imagine how good he could be if he kicks on and improves further.

Guardiola said that about Wilshere when he was slagging him year's ago. Said they have loads of Wilshere's and he'd just about make Barca's b team :56:. At a time they were saying he was world class and England's big hope..

It's true though. Other countries like that have loads of little technician's that are allowed to thrive. We barely have any..

McGregor is definitely different from most Scottish central midfielders of the last decade. Trying to think of just one who is similar to how and where he plays..

Another Stuart Armstrong for me this season-exceptional. Last year thought he was nothing more than a squad player, but now..... *, it's like we have signed a very good young player.

Barry Bannan maybe? Nowhere near the goal threat though
