I agree with most apart from the last part of eating every 2-3 hours.

Then your body is constantly burning what is in your stomach and not on energy reserves.

But just a personal preference I suppose.

Was doing really well for months but really struggled over the last couple of weeks. Think I have tweaked something. Last week tried to bench press a couple of times and just couldn't lift the bar and I am not talking about heavy weights I mean my warm up set. Strange thing is I have no pain but I literally can't lift the bar on my left hand side. I know there is nothing I can really do apart from resting it and starting back slowly but pretty frustrating all the same.

On average how many calories did you eat a day?

Varies, but I'd say the average would be around 1900ish

To find out how much you should eat calorie wise its good to calculate your TDEE, i.e. BMR * Activity level then if you are looking to lose weight deduct around 500 calories off that amount to lose roughly a pound a week.

Noticed a difference already after 2 weeks of running and cutting out excess sugar + bringing my own meals to work, didnt think it'd change that quick.

Managed to get up early and do weights before work this morning and ran 7 miles after work tonight. If I can keep that up and cut out the takeaways at weekends til holiday I should hopefully be jamming!

So the last two weeks by doing fasted cardio sessions in the morning have already seen a noticeable jump in my stamina.

My cardio is still horrific but it defo is improving

Your progress is pleasing me young man!!!!

Wish I was in the same boat! Basically working more hours than the Asian lads has floored me and my fitness, not to mention the fact i'm more or less down to the use of one arm the now for anything heavily physical - having to attend the physios the noo cause some wee * crashed into the back of me full force cause he was texting ( I suspect) - it's amazing how much I put on even when I'm eating relatively healthy, but zero excercise.....

Aye when working lots of hours it's brutal as the last thing you could be doing with after a shift is going to the gym, add to that seeing your family etc.

I'm the same in regards to weight gain, a couple of weeks ago I had 3 days of not eating that great.... 5lbs gained :97:

What's the doc said about the arm? Nerve damage or something? Hope it wasn't the wanking arm :giggle1:

Arm is * murder the noo (I use two arms for the knuckle shuffle btw :34:) - can barely hold the wee man for any more than a couple a minutes without losing strength and grip. Aye, physio's said nerve damage, nothing permanent but gonna be * for at least a good few month....the joys eh?

Just back from the gym tweaked a muscle in my neck, doesn't matter how much time I seem to spend on warming up :giggle1:

Another thing, what's people's views on someone coming up to you and giving advice on your form?

A young lad in the gym there doing pulls ups swinging all over the place like a monkey just terrible form and a guy on the squat rack with all the weight of the world on the bar lucky if he was even doing quarter squats, * dial back the weight and do proper squats

Gym instructors just sitting there on their phones not even attempting to give advice, was pretty annoying.

Saying that even when I was an instructor in a gym some people didn't take too kindly if you came and gave some advice on technique but you still gave it.
