Did you hear about the time when Clint Eastwood and Rock Hudson starred alongside each other?

Always enjoyed Gran Torino as a film and felt it had many aspects to it which were interesting. Bit different from some of the * that Hollywood come up with nowadays.

I don't think it's nice, you laughing. You see, my mule don’t like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you’re laughin’ at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you’re going to, I might convince him that you really didn’t mean it......

There is quite a bit of connection between Wayne and Eastwood...

Clint first made his name in the TV show 'Rawhide' while 'The Duke' was still top western draw in movieland.

The spaghetti westerns became Eastwoods speciality while Wayne was coming to the end of his brand of western and tried to broaden to other genres... ( incidentally the name Spaghetti western Is a misnomer as the movies were mainly shot in Spain, not Italy).

John Wayne was offered the 'Dirty Harry' role, but turned it down... He is said to have regretted the decision after seeing the success that Clint made of it. Wayne tried to 'mirror' this with the movies 'McQ' and 'Brannagan' but if I recall this wasn't too successful and ended up being among his last films.
