    Why?

I think it makes perfect sense. Allows the club to see how the player can cope in the same league.

I think it is open to abuse. eg. Chelsea loan Lukaku to Everton and he skelps them in week in week out against Chelsea's rivals, but he doesnt play against Chelsea! It means the rich clubs can buy up exciting prospects and have them aid their own cause playing for other teams against their nearest rivals.

What this instance of it does for me though, is highlight how far ahead of the rest of the league we are, when we help the club that has finished 2nd in the last few years! Its almost contempt!

When you put your point like that then I wholeheartedly agree with you. Indeed it is a point I have raised many times about Scottish players, they're mostly wee guys and none of them are pedigree athletes. Leigh Griffiths being a good example. He's too easily brushed aside when faced with a higher standard of defender than he faces in Scotland. Moussa Dembele is not. I don't know why this should be the case with Scottish players but it holds both our clubs and our national team back.

Christie already has the physicality to survive in our domestic league as I said in my previous post but in terms of European football you may be right about him. He could do with adding a bit of physical strength in order to hold opposing players off the ball. It's difficult to make comparisons with Messi though as Messi is so wee. Christie is 5ft 10 and would be a bit of a tank if he had the same height/strength ratio Messi has. The key thing with Christie is I think he has the ability and the potential to be a good player. Without those things he'd be useless to us given the position he plays.

    I didn't realise Christie was 5ft 10. Bigger than what I thought.

The awards take place only in November, but nothing prevents the Puskás Prize from being the talk of the group for now, especially when one goal comes after another. Gustavo Scarpa, who scored a plate goal in Fluminense's victory over FC Globo on Wednesday, became a serious contender. But the tricolor midfielder may have competition from Scotsman Ryan Christie.

The 21-year-old was the author of a painting also on Wednesday, in the victory of his team, Aberdeen, 7-2 on Motherwell, for the Scottish Championship. Three-fingered, the midfielder caught first in the area and put the ball in the drawer. Indefensible!

Good player Christie. I actually prefer him to McGregor. Just my opinion of course.Always capable of making something happen, and taller than what I thought.

There's a chance for him if Paddy as expected goes for good in one of the wide attacking positions in my opinion.

Said it before but I'd be surprised if he makes it here.

He's got decent ability but nowhere near the technical class of Rogic and I think with Rodgers looking to bring in another playmaker of real class, he might be shifted out again next season.

    Agreed.

I had high hopes for him but he's now been a Celtic player for the best part of 2 years and I don't think he's improved. Some of that is down to sitting on the bench too often but the point stands.

Never know, though. Could do an Armstrong.

I actually like Christie, before he signed I didnt really notice him to know much about him. He's suprised me with his range of passing and quality on the ball, intelligent player too and a nice finisher. Could be held back by a lack of pace and strength though as he needs to be able to play out wide to get games for us but so far hasn't done much when played there.

He should look at Sane of Man City who is a similar style on the ball and how quick he is and able to hold guys off and work towards that level of fitness.

Mate Christie could pump himself full of steroids and he still wouldn't have the pace of Sane :giggle1:

True, think I heard before one of his parents was in the Olympics but Christie should have more pace than he has, he's too thin with no power about him, could definitely be in better condition. Even just in our squad when you look at Tierney, Brown, Forrest, Armstrong even Griffiths those players look in near peak condition they won't get in much better shape, players like Christie, GMS, Roberts, Henderson should have a look at themselves.
