Picked the Verve as I like them the best out the bands on the poll. Oasis and OCS run them close though.

Bittersweet Symphony is the song of the 90s for me. Listening to it always brings back loads of memories of France 98, Big Breakfast on Channel 4, Playstation 1, they Adidas trackies with the buttons down the sides, FHM magazine, Global Video, etc.

Apologies for the two word answer and delay in replying - a hostie was giving me grief about switching my phone on to flight mode.

I don't need to google them, I've heard all their songs and, as said, they don't do much for me. I'd put them into the same box I'd put Ed Sheeran - phenomenally successful but how? Their music isn't anything special (to me anyway) but I accept that millions get off on them :43: (mumble, mumble... x factor generation accepting mediocrity... mumble...)

To OP @NorwichCelt - 90s music and you left Nirvana out?

p.s. Tim - not suggesting you are x factor generation with a username like that.

Oasis was before X Factor and that, they were at their height in the 90's.

I'm of the opinion that people who didn't like Oasis back in 94-97 were the kids who got bullied at school and didn't get invited to parties. While we were out getting *, coked up, * and belting out Live Forever with our mates you were sat in your bedrooms gazing into your naval contemplating your existential existence and you'd have friends if only people could see past your introversion.

    Something like that.

Roddy Woomble lived in Carnoustie for a bit when he was at school. I always point out his house to people who may be unaware of this like im some sort of tour guide :giggle1:

I am of the opinion that people who liked Oasis in 94-97 would typically be found in the "foondie" classes, skinny tinks swaggering around picking fights with confused kids twice their size. They thought Oasis invented the guitar, would sniff the glue in woodwork, and they would say things like "our kid". But they werent too bad because by 4th year they all disappeared.

...Meanwhile the far more intelligent kids like me would listen to the Manics singing about 'spitting out Plath and Pinter' and Nirvana singing about mulatto albinos. I had no idea what a mulatto was never mind a Pinter, but was convinced I must be super smart to listen to it :)

Yes the tunes are simple enough and not overly deep and complex but a good tune is a good tune!

And I'm still not having Noel as being of average talent. :giggle1:

    Woodwork?
    Sniffing glue?
    Our kid?

Did you go to school in Scotland? :giggle1:

I fit neither of the descriptions offered by you or Senna, I was too young. I liked Oasis because my big brother listened to them and he doesn't fit your description either.

Did I say average? Sorry mate, I meant below average :97:

When I was younger my 'thing' was going to gigs. Amongst the bands I had seen live up to when oasis hit the scene included; AC/DC, The Stones, The Who, Yes, Zep, The mighty Floyd (with & without RW), RW solo, The Police, Sting solo, U2, Simple Minds, Genesis, PG, Kate Bush, Bruce Springsteen, Judie Tzuke, Fleetwood Mac...

I could go on, and I've left some of the embarrassing ones out :52:

Each to their own of course but I don't think oasis could lace any of their ^^ boots. I also (still) collect albums/CDs and I own the first three. Haven't played them in years.

It would be dead boring if we all liked the same stuff though? I would have thought I'd have a chance with someone with your username :50:
