I think he'll be here for years to come, no point in letting go a decent player on lowish wages who cost us nothing as it would cost us £1million or so to get a similar player... a Crosas, Bitton, Kayal, Donati, N'Guemo.

When you think of successful teams, they actually do usually have homegrown squad players who do a job for a long time. Man Utd had *, P.Neville, Brown, O'Shea, Gibson, Cleverley, Welbeck. Barca had guys like S.Roberto, Bojan, Tello, Bartra, Rafinha. Real Madrid have had guys like Pavon, Raul Bravo, Nacho, Morientes probably more.

Rodgers likes him also, uses him a lot and he does a good job.

Played ok but for me showed flashes of why he continues to frustrate me.

Gets himself into so many good positions but is very often wasteful. Whether that is with a shot or with a final ball.

Feel like a broken record here but he is a good squad player and that's it for me. Which, to be honest, is fine.

I really like the wee man always gives 100%, yes he can be frustrating at times but would have him in the team ahead of Bitton any day of the week.

I would have McGregor ahead of Bitton any day too, but we still need an upgrade on him too, if we are going to get anywhere.

As an aside, when was the last time McGregor scored a goal, anyone know ?

Tidy wee player, would keep if CM doesn't mind not always starting. Great stand in and impact sub. Every club need them.

Aye Brendan knows this aswell, that's why he was quoted saying he needs a midfielder to make an impact in the Champions League.

No way would he be out the door for me. Particularly as he is an emergency left back and we don't need to keep a left back on the bench when he's around.

    Aye.

He obviously sees the potential for another level or two to come from McGregor yet and I am willing to trust him. Even if I myself can't see it yet.

I dont even know what to say about that. I despair if Brendan has any plans of playing him in europe again. Definitely can be easily improved upon.

I've always thought he'll have a good Scotland career, just because their are no other Scotland midfielders like him. He's unique in his style.

Strange that he hasn't managed to get a call up so far, we're not exactly rich with midfield talent in Scotland.
