If an offer was on the table, it would be your own decision as to whether you accept it or not, therefor i don't think you could accuse the club of taking advantage ?

If you felt you were being undervalued then the decision would probably already be made for you.

Sinclair is the very essence of that now. He knows what life is like in the epl not winning or enjoying football. Ok he made his money so has that to fall back on, but he is enjoying his game now more than ever before and loves life in the sport again. He knows what it means to actually play, enjoy, amd win medals.

As for the question, if you can sign as a 20k a week contract at 23 for celtic, then by the time you hit 33 and could look at slowing down, then youve made 10 million and then some in your career. Not including a few signing on fees as well.
Even say you blow 2 million of that in the 10 years, and none of it is invested at all, you are still minimal got 8mill in the bank when you retire. If you cant set up your foreseeable family (your kids and grand kids) and then some, then something is wrong.
Invest that all wisely and your family never needs to work again.

Depends how much Celtic are willing to offer. I would go in at £40k, see how close to that they gave me.

If I had the chance though, I would go to a few different countries. If you have that chance in life you would be mental to knock back living in America, Spain, even China, if only for a year.

If I was on £10-15k a week, getting played regularly and succeeding at the club, I'd have no reason to leave. Easy to say now, but even if another club came in offering £40-50k a week, I know already I dont need that much to live happy.

You can do all that when you retire though.

I haven't said they wouldn't get a mortgage , its me who said they would need one :97: the only difference is the footballer will have a contract that is for 3/4 years, typically, so them asking for a 25 years mortgage is unlikely to be approved.

Again I haven't said they wont get a mortgage, I said they will likely need one and then its been said they would just save up in all sorts of, being honest, unrealistic time frames. In my experience footballers (like self employed) used a mortgage called a 'Self certified mortgage' they tend to be difficult to get now (decent ones anyway). Yes the rental market for footballers seems decent, as they tend to move about far more and don't want the outlay, hassle, expense in buying and selling and its just easier for the lazy * :giggle1:
I would have placed the average towards the 500k myself but that's maybe reflecting the prices up here more and what I would imagine as an ideal house for someone who was at Celtic. I suppose we all have different ideas/aspirations though.

If I was good enough I would be too ambitious to stay at celtic to be honest. I can honestly say if I were earning 20k a week, the idea of earning 60k a week wouldnt excite me all that much. But I would soon become pretty bored if I felt I would good enough to take on some of the best players in Europe week in week out and to keep improving, and instead I was playing st johnstone and Motherwell and the likes.

In my real life last year I left a job where I liked what I did, I loved the people, and I felt well looked after, but I had achieved all I could there. I felt to get better and keep progressing I needed to move so I did just that. Money wasnt a factor. If I were a footballer it would be no different, and I dont think I would let supporting celtic get in the way of that.

Much does a player actually receive say on 20k a week? After paying tax don't they pay money to their agents and to Player representation associating I think? Is there any other fees?

But if it's unlikely to approved, does that not mean they won't get one?

Any offer over 3k a week would be enough for me to stay

I don't think politics should be kept separate or out of football at all. In fact, football is inherently political.

I won't however dislike a player just because of where they are from, or who they have been indoctrinated by. If they give 100% for the shirt, they can be a Scientologist for all I care.

In addition to that, there are some songs I'd rather Celtic fans stop singing, purely because I'm sick of the bad reports and press we get from singing them.

This is a forum, it's where people share and discuss their views. Why do you feel the need to constantly bring this up? Genuinely, what's your problem with me?

    That ended well :56:

Aye its a lot but will be relative to what kinda lifestyle they want to keep enjoying.

Over 25 years yes that's why you would apply over 3/4 years only. However, this obviously vastly increases the monthly repayment amount, as its over a much shorter period (I am ignoring the differences in capital and interest mortgages and interest only mortgages here, more commonly known as endowment mortgages for those who had one).

Just seen this threat and only read the first few comments and it was as I expected...

I'll give my honest answer but let me say that I don't support any English/Spanish/German/Italian team - my only team is Celtic.

I'd leave for the money after I've won everything domestically with us.. It would hurt me but money talks at the end of the day.

It would depend on how long i had left on my contract.
Less than a year and i would find out what Celtic are willing to give me.
Less or equal to what i already have then i would go.
More than what i already have then i would stay.
It would also depend what age i am and how long i think i would have left in my football career.
