What would a mass clearout achieve? Thinning our squad so that we have abrely enough players to cover each positiona nd putting pressure on wgs or the new manager to make panic buys?

We can let a few go but we need to bring in quality before letting most of the squad go.

Were creating enough chances to win games, just not converting them. Skippy looks a wee bit tired imo. JVoH looks so unfit compared to when we first signed him - they way he plays and the way he looks!
I dont think we need a MASS clearout, but a few players certainly need to go. Am no sure about WGS, sometimes i think he is building something good at CP - but sometimes i think he needs to go! Cant make my mind up.
I would give him a bit longer cos i think the team is capable of playin some good football and most of it is still young. I think his side lacks leadership (which is partially his fault) because the more experienced players in the side arent providing the leadership and direction we need to see teams off.
When i look in the current team i dont see many big game players.

    Boruc - always produces
McGeady - always a threat (even on an off day)
Hartley - usually does well for us in big games
Naka - the odd free kick

But there is no one else! Compare that to MONs team which was full of players who were capable of producing in big games. Henrik, Sutty, Big John, Thommo, Stan, Lenny, Bobo, Mjallby. These guys always stepped up and most of them have pulled us out the bag with vital goals/performances.

I think the current side are few experienced players away from a really good team. We have some good players, good facilities, beautiful stadium and are in the best financial positions weve ever been in.

    Anyone agree?

I have a different view on our performances, i think our formation is a problem. There is a predictability about it. All the creativity comes from the wide players, easy to defend against and reliant on the good form of Mcgeady and Naka stopping the fullbacks going forward much and leaving the midfield open on the break. Most top team do not play with Two strikers in the forward postions ie there more space in the wider or deep areas ie gerard, lampard, ronaldo. Even THEM play the modern way with one up front. I think we need a rethink of our system, i cant think of any other top team which play 442 our way.

Tottaly agree. Donati can * off back to wherever he came from so can Vennegoor and Gravesen. Naylor, Caldwell, Doumbe, Pressly, Bobo, Killen and Brown(GK) can all * off too. I mean a proper clear out! Bring in quality, classy foreign keen youngsters that will fight for every yard on the pitch and give it their all. They will come off the pitch after the game having sprinted at least 60% of the time and they will be shattered. Thats what I want to see, effort. We also need to buy a Carlos Cuellar type defender who is really defensive and hardly ever goes up to attack. Also Strachan out and Martin Jol in.

Mc Donald has scored goals and his work rate is good but he has the worst first touch of any spl striker( everything bounces off him , how can a pro footballer not kill a ball ) NOT Celtic class and never will be.
Players like Donati,Sno & Brown are making him look good.

I think its clear Strachan has ripped the heart out of CP, the atmosphere is * compared to a few years ago. The teams displays are uninspiring, along with most of the signings that have been made and there is no grit in the team no one who has the heart to inspire the boring players at the club just now. I think Strachans luck ran out when lenny left, as he hasn't been able to find anyone good enough to replace him.

Hartleys no bad but he ain't in the same league as Lennon, Brown should be a good player but I think his confidence is low or morale, Donati looks a nervous wreck at times, Naka is gr8 when he gets us out of trouble but otherwise he fades out of most games.

I have never been so bored watching the hoops as I have this season every game seems the same, you could write the script before kick off. The tactics are * the coaches don't seem to have any answers and never change things as quick as they should.

I hope WGS gets his finger Out and proves me wrong but I've got a bad feeling he's gonna crash and burn this season.

I hate to say it but we're about to lose our best keeper of my life time for a profit at least. Others that will leave will include Riordon, Balde, Pressley, Doumbe, VOH, Brown(hope no but like WGS, who could blame him) , Brown and .............DONATI.

    Gravesen

Should be easily off the wage bill and others when we signed better

    Naylor
    Caldwell
    Doumbe
    Pressley
    Riordan

These should be lined up for selling when better are brought in

bonkers mate. Where on our budget are we going to get a better LB, CMs, target mand and a Naka replacement. Name the names bearing in mind our average fee is about 1-2 million.

The test is for each player can we do better for our usual 1-2 milion budget. The alternative (my favoured one) is to accept we have something approaching the realistic squad standard and just add one or two more expensive players.

I think its unlikely we will better most of our players except maybe our CBs and CMs. We might possibly pick up a useful striker but I think in Samatas and Hutchison that may be covered. If we are going to punt we have to be sure that we can afford better and that they couldnt do a job as squad players

    I would punt:

    Mark Brown
Doumbe (sorry but far too many RBs of similar quality and he is the oldest)
    Elvis
    Bobo
potentially all of out CBs but only realistic to replace one or two with better and these are the old guys
Deeks-if he is not professional then he has to go but what a waste(r)
Killen-panic stop gap when WGS was obviously given a tiny budget
    Grav-no tactical awareness
am undecided about Donati and Sno. Wouldnt punt Donati until I saw who was going to replace him but I think we need someone more suited to British football. I would like to see Sno on loan for half a season before making my mind up. He has pluses and minuses and he is too young to judge.
JFK-sorry but cant see a full recovery

Core who I dont think we are likely to better or who would be excellent squad backup

    Artur
    Caddis
    Hinkel
    Wilson
    Naylor
    Mick
    Hartley
    Brown
    Naka
    Aidan
    Robson
    Skippy
    JVOH
    Samaras
    Hutchinson
    Koki

    Bring in

    A really good expereinced CB
A skilled but tough British style CM
    Bring back wee Shaun

He hold the ball up better than strikers a foot taller than him, he's playing with his back to goal far too much but i still can't see how you label the top scorer in the squad and the spl not good enough, what does that make everyone else?

I agree with who to bring in except for Maloney. Why bother going backwards on that?
