New Sauber looks nice on the track, far better livery than the rubbish they ran last year.







Merc looks nice enough.









McLaren aren't exactly being subtle about their change in aesthetic direction, glad to see them going back to the Bruce McLaren colours of old though.




I hope it's a striking design and not just black with orange accents, that would be a real let down.

A lot of people don't remember their original colours, they only switched to red and white due to Marlboro getting on board, ditto silver with West. Interestingly enough they've stopped designating their chassis 'MP4' now, that originally stood for Marlboro Project Four.

I really dont like that 'sail' they all seem to have this year, except Mercedes which seems to have a curtailed 'sail'.

 

The shark fin, it's supposed to reduce yaw under braking and stop the air getting turbulent before going over the rear wing but it's disputed whether it really works. Mercedes are actually going to test one on their 2017 car so it might have one after all.

 

It's called a sharkfin, and at this point any of them could end up running with it at Melbourne. Mercedes are testing theirs today, I believe.

 

It looks far more like the fin of a 'sail fish', so * knows why they called it that!

 

Because "sail fish fin" sounds a bit tame for a race car

 

I know, but Titanium Turbo Sail sounds good!!!

Or just plain old Turbo Sail!

Or Sail even!!! Its defo not a shark fin!!!

Actually when you look at a real shark fin sideways it actually does look like the one on the cars. That's the first time I've noticed that. If you look at Ferrari's where it's white you'll notice it.
