I would be apprehensive about building a hotel at Celtic Park. Raises more questions than answers for me. Although its an early stage project ao far.

I don't see a big pull for fans staying, other than for staying so close to the ground.

Look across the road mate, the Emirates has cycling, basketball, athletics and tennis tournaments on almost all year round add that lot to our home games and I think you will struggle to get to get a booking. It will make a lot of money

Exactly, I'm sure the club are just getting the idea in before someone else does, premier Inn or Travelodge can get to *.

Some guy on phone had an idea about adding wax works to the museum part...think it's a tremendous idea..imagine a full size wax work of cesar holding the European cup or a wee jinky mid flow frozen in time..can't wait hope that go down this route

This would work. They could sell match day packages with accommodation etc. Season ticket holder room discounts for the travelling fans.

Or it'll be overly expensive and everyone will just go the holiday Inn anyway :56:

Fergus wasn't keen on 60,000 either. Seriously considered stopping at 45k as he was sure 45k (Main Stand, LL and North Stand) plus the 10k waiting list was just an anomaly and would level out over time.

Some directors weren't happy about leaving the big gap at the now Jock Stein stand and so it was built.

So he was human after all .. Seriously, well done those who talked sense into him, that must have been a tough conversation though "Fergus we think we should spend X amount of million extra ..." Fergus -:nonono:

I'm sure the book was called The Official History of Celtic Football Club. Brian Wilson the Author.

Went into a lot of detail of how Fergus took on the SFA and got Farry removed/disgraced. Also how he seriously considered changing our badge to a thistle intertwined with a four leaf clover/shamrock.

To be fair, 45k wasn't a bad idea before this season, it did level off as Fergus thought it would.

Glad it got done though, it would have looked * stupid unfinished.

It levelled off for various good reasons. But I honestly believe we have a great support as we stand, but there are a few who will shy away when times are tough, both on the pitch and in the punters wallet.
But if the pitch product is good, then people will find a way to spend that bit extra and be a part of it. Its not glory hunting it is being wise with their income.

If there is a year with absolute dross in the cinema, folk arent going to still go to the cinema to watch *.
But if there is a good year of film, then people will make the effort more.
It is the same with football.

We once had a waiting list for years during the Martin oneil days. If we continue on the same path as we are just now, we will surely do the same again very soon.
And when we do, why not have serious talk to expand the stands again? Plenty of stadiums around Europe are half empty most matches, but are full and bring in the income even just for those 10 matches.

Add in the work to get the stadium to European final level, and we can put in to host them as well.

The one huge difference back then was that we had one only one league title in 12? years before MON took over, that alone meant there were a huge number of fans wanting to be part of something big, these days winning the league is routine. I think filling the stadium for each game is doable, I can't see there being waiting lists as long as the ones in early 00's in the near future unless something like a European run akin to Seville happens.

Cheers I will have a look and see if I can find that book. I can remember the Thistle/Clover idea and ,being honest, I don't think it was a goer. Although I did/do still kinda like the idea but I have yet to see a picture that looks 'good' with the 2 of them :fear: Its something that should probably just be left alone and forgot about.

Aye it would have looked unfinished but maybe Fergus planned on building a hotel in that spot ... :giggle1:

I would definitely book in with the family for a game. Hate getting out of CP and trying to get into City centre. Tried to get a taxi in lashing rain in Bridgton after one game and the * quoted me £30 to Tollbooth. Obviously Irish accent, some Asian dude thought he was gonna rip off. I was going to overturn his people carrier.
