I can understand why folk buy half and half scarves at European games as a bit of a souvenir to keep, maybe not to wear though.

As for the ones i've seen in English football with the likes of Man Utd/Liverpool and Chelsea/Arsenal half and half scarves, it's just embarrassing and sums up the modern game down there for me.

Next we'll see footage of EPL fans exchanging half and half scarves before matches like the players do with pennants.

Don't give a *, to be honest; if people want to get them, fine. If not, also fine. They don't harm anyone. *shrug*

The things themselves aren't really the issue, what they stand for is.

A sign of the times when rivalry is diluted by money and commercialism.

Who wants to beat other teams now when we can all be pals and wear half and half scarves, yippee.

I don't think a shoddy scarf dilutes any sense of rivalry two teams may have. It's just a gaudy souvenir - like t-shirts at rock concerts, etc - that people can buy or not buy if they so choose.

So what if at Celtic Park next month against the huns, half the crowd are wearing half and half scarves? Nothing wrong with that?

    I think I'd throw up.

Like going to a Bruce Springsteen concert and buying a Rolling Stones t shirt would be the correct comparison.

We play in competitions against other teams to win and support our team against those other teams.

The current trend of EPL fans buying and wearing half and half scarves is utterly ridiculous.

The only one I regularly wear to games and on trips is my St Pauli one. Has Celts on one side and them on the other, with a fist punching a HSV badge in the middle. Picked it up outside parkhead a few year back. Cool as * tbh.

I have numerous others but they are all just keep sakes.

Almost exactly what I was going to say. Those man utd/man city or liverpool scarfs are horrific. Shows how diluted rivalry has become in England the fact anyone would think of buying one.

I only have one - a celtic barca one my grandad bought me years back. Never bought one myself.

I can't remember a time where they weren't at European games? Like a souviner.

But if you're talking a half Celtic/Sevco scarf, they can go get *.

It's more aimed at the Premiership trend TBH.

Keeping a half and half Celtic/Barca scarf from the 2012 game is completely different!

Unless its a mutant creation like Celtic/huns/hearts or any other team we dont like, then im all for it.

Football after all is all about camaraderie so showing support for your friends is all good

I don't begrudge a travelling football fan who has no link to either club buying a half/half domestic scarf tbh. A barca/madrid scarf would be a pretty cool memento for someone who travelled across the world to see an el clasico. Same for some neutral who watched a Glasgow derby.

I obviously disagree with a fan of either club getting a half and half scarf though.

We play them every * year, they're probably selling them still to this day. Could come in handy if you somehow lose the thing.
