The worry for me is, someone as competitive as BR will eventually seek, a more competitive challenge.

Let's hope it's not too soon.

I'd be quite happy to go into next season with Tom Rogic as our #10 and Ryan Christie as his deputy.

I agree it's not ideal but Rogic has been excellent this season so I'm not sure we can categorise it as a big problem. If he has to come off early regularly then it would mean more game time for Christie as a knock on effect, which I am absolutely fine with.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he is disappointed Celtic's recruitment plans are not further advanced.

Rodgers told BBC Scotland he did not think the Premiership leaders would make any more signings in January.

"It's disappointing because we had six months as a club to identify the type of players we wanted," he said.

But he was hopeful Craig Gordon would agree a new deal, and said Chelsea's approach for the 34-year-old goalkeeper was not worth considering.

Teenage midfielder Eboue Kouassi has been Rodgers' only January recruit, with the Ivorian introduced to fans at half-time in Sunday's 4-0 win over Hearts.

As runaway leaders Celtic cruise towards a sixth consecutive title win, the manager's thoughts will be on next season's Champions League qualifiers.

"We had profiles in mind, but if they are not available, you can't bring them in," said Rodgers.

"I'm happy with what I have. Of course I want to improve it, but if it's not in this window, it's fine. We'll do it in the summer."

    Wee dig at Lawwell...

Didn't take long for the Hun media to try and take his words and make it look like the club let him down this window

I don't think that Brendan's too fussed as he has a decent squad at the moment and anything he does add, or goes on to add in the summer, only improves it further. No point panic buying or being pushed into paying over the odds. There's other prospects out there I'm sure and he likely has tabs on them already. I don't think PL or the board have let him down. I genuinely think that he hasn't got who he went for so he dusts himself down and waits for the next big opportunity. Some will latch on to our failure to make more signings and say he doesn't have the support of the board etc but does any of us really believe that? This isn't Lenny we're talking about here.

Don't think so. He's also said that the lack of business has been through no fault of the club, and that it's mostly up to the time of the year by which we are trying to add to the squad. Think he's confident in his backing, they gave him just under £3 million almost immediately into the window, so I think once summer hits we'll see a big push for signings. Still think we'll get Onyekuru by Tuesday...

    Don't think thats a dig.

Think it is more saying that the club and him had identified the players but they aren't currently available or clubs are playing hard ball. Not uncommon during the January window.

Apparently they came back to Celtic on Friday and said they wanted £2.2m plus addons but if the gaffer says we ain't looking like doing business then I will take it as gospel and not bother refreshing my browser or staying up till midnight.

If we get anyone then great but not hanging my hat on it

The man is everything I thought he would be. Understands the magnitude of his position, understands the fans and what they want, fantastic with the media, and provides a brand of football that the fans can really enjoy watching and rally behind. The feeling around the club now could not be any more different to what it was in the second half of last season. Things had gone completely stale under Ronny Deila and it was only going to get worse. Now the stadium is full again and the fans are looking forward to every game, even if it's a midweek game against unexciting opposition.

The manager is the most important man at any football club and we have a really, really good one. Dermot Desmond's decision to loosen the purse strings on the manager's salary was a great one. When the day does eventually come that Brendan leaves us I hope that is a policy we will continue on with.

More from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers as we approach Transfer Deadline Day...

"There will probably be no outs (before the window closes). We've sent a couple of younger players on loan but I think the squad of players will be the one we have through to the end of the season.

"We obviously wanted to get one or two in but it's not always down to ourselves. There's no doubt I want to strengthen but it might not be in this window."

    Let's not mention that.

Was gutted when Saint Martin had to leave, let's hope Rodgers' personal life doesn't affect his work and he stays for years to come! :50:
