    I'm not picky.
    Thanks :50:

A lot of it is to do with diet to be honest. When I first started my routine last year I thought I was doing OK with my walks (and I was walking every day) but hardly anything was coming off me. I went to a nutrition store and got advice from them and found out I was eating foods and having drinks with too much sugar in them. They worked out my carbs on average were about 250g - 300g of carbs (not good, especially with them being "bad" carbs) and my protein was only about maybe 40g - 50g or so a day on average. Not good really if you're trying to lose weight. It's probably obvious to some people but I was a newbie to the whole carbs-protein-fat macronutrient stuff  Carbs aren't ALL bad though cos we need them to fuel our body for energy but you just need to watch out for the processed ("bad") carbs, and have more of the natural ("good") carbs like in fruit and veggies.

Also, it's maybe an obvious thing to say, but you need to eat regularly as well. It keeps your metabolism going. If you don't eat regularly and sort of "binge eat" just once a day (which is what I used to do) and snack on the wrong sort of foods then your body goes into starvation mode which means it hoards onto as much food as possible cos it doesn't know when you'll eat again.

One thing that helped me is an App called MyFitnessPal which gives tips, recipes for meals, you log what you eat, etc. I use an App called MapMyWalk which keeps track of different exercises you do and it works along with MyFitnesspal too.

Hope some of that helps :giggle2:

Agree with most of that but "starvation mode" is a myth :86:

All makes sense and something I know I should he aiming to do (less bad carbs, more protein etc). But i seem to always find an excuse to put a "proper eating routine" in to action till next week... And so on.

Fot both those apps as well, and I really like the myfitnesspal, but again it doesn't get used as much because of my * motivation.

But glad to hear youve found something that is working for you, and keep at it.
I always believe there isn't as much a thing as "I'm on a diet" "I'm off a diet" as actually changing how you eat and recalibrating what you do to your body. Its a life time choice to eat better. Otherwise once it comes off, if we return to the "bad carbs" then we are going to be putting it all back on.

I've been weighing myself weekly since I started the weight-loss process, but after three weeks of nothing, I took to doing it daily this week just to see the trends. At one point, I was as low as 89kg (14 stone), but this morning it had shot back up to 89.8kg (14.1 stone). Not a huge difference, but it's amazing how things can change over the course of a day. :43:

I found it to be true. All I was eating for a proper meal really was tea at around 4pm/5pm and that would be it until the next day (well, apart from any midnight snacking I had later on :52:). I never had a breakfast or a proper lunch, but as soon as I started eating more regularly the weight was starting to come off. It wasn't falling off but it did start to come down.

For me if it was a myth I'd be as skinny as a catwalk model by now :giggle1:

I was in exactly the same boat. The main thing for me was motivation and I was (and still am really) a procrastinator. I would always start doing stuff tomorrow, and I'd keep putting it off. It was that moment I stepped on the scales last year and saw my weight that made me actually start. I guess seeing my weight at that moment was the tipping point.

Those apps definitely did help. I started with the MapMyWalk one first to log my walks and then my bike rides and before the * weather came in I was cycling about 6.5miles a day. I then went onto the MyFitnessPal one to log what I was eating and once you start it does become easier. I totally understand the motivation thing though as I said because I was there myself. The crap Winter weather doesn't really help with motivation either :giggle1:

"Starvation mode" exists but it only kicks in when you are dangerously underweight (and even then you'll still lose weight). Doesn't really matter much about what you eat during the day, you could be 30stone, not eat anything and still no enter starvation mode because you have so much fat to use as energy.

Yeah the weather always * me over up here. Always tell myself "nae point its too dark and windy" but really, I should be taking a pair of walking shoes to work with me and just take a 30-45minute detour on my way home every night. That and eating sensible and I know it will come off.

We all have our own goals and size/shape, and like you say - you hit a weight that opened your eyes. I know the weight that will do that to me, and I'm cheeky enough to just stay under that limit.

I think it's the same for a lot of people through the Winter. Early nights, cold/crappy weather, lack of sun. All definitely contribute towards a lack of motivation for a lot of people. The weather here where I live has been on average of about -17° for the last few days and that's definitely not going out weather. In saying that, though, I ended up going for a wee walk tonight just to get out mainly cos I was fed up being indoors all the time.

When I first started I just used our treadmill every day or so for about 30 minutes and then just built up from there. When the good weather came in I went out for my walks at a local running track that is just up the road from me. I wanted to get a bike though cos I'm more of a cyclist than a walker and i enjoy that more, so last Summer I bought a bike and I ended up cycling every other day instead of walking. I think once you get started and once you get into the habit of it all it becomes second nature and gets easier. It's like eating more sensibly - when you're in the habit of it, it gets easier. The amount of junk food I used to eat - especially crisps - was unreal, but now there's not even a temptation to get anything like that when out shopping.

Going full throttle this week. Set myself a target of a minimum of 5 gym sessions, more if possible.

Make sure you get the requisite rest and don't burn out! Rest is so important for muscles.

Back from a holiday and back to work now. I'm currently at 89kg (I'm 6 foot tall) so need to start cutting down on drink, eating better and exercising far more regularly. Let's go.

Set myself small goals. Giving the diet fizzy juice a miss. More for my teeth but also it makes me hungry and eat * so hopefully that will stop too. I was easily having 2 cans a day at my desk. Green Tea and water all the way! :dancing:

I've put on about 1 & 1/2 stone, after losing over a stone in the summer.
Just the bad weather & stress eating.
Need to get a grip & try shaking it all off again.

    Mon - Back/Biceps
    Tues- Chest/Triceps
    Wed- Shoulders/Traps

mostly do Muscleround sets or superset on shoulder days.

back/bis chest/tris loadsets work to failure 6-12 reps heavy 2sets.

I'm doing a bit of this. Sat back and thought about the snacking I did at work. Decided to completely cut it out bar the odd banana. Felt hungry at work today but that shows the snacking I was doing.
