I'd guess so, he'd have unique access to the US market as soon as he landed in LA. Can't imagine him passing up on Real's offer of a two-year extension unless it made sense financially to make the move.

Axel Witsel chose to sign for Tianjin Quanjian over Juventus.

He'll be getting £18m a year in China...

I can't work out how it's going to happen in China. It feels like a house of cards.

They still need a big statement signing imo, along the lines of Teixeira but a more prominent player who would logically seek a European move.

How are they ever going to compete with the Champions League?

Apparently Chelsea were interested as well.

What a money grabbing *. Turn down two of the best teams in the world who would still be offering crazy money, to go to * China.

£18m over 12 month is only £1.5m a month as well, surely he could have earned close to that in Europe.

Well it should be no surprise as he upped sticks and moved to Russia for 1 thing and 1 thing only..

I can understand it if it's a once in a life money spinner but no for a guy who is a Belgian international mainstay coveted by half of Europe..

Surely you'd want to go to place's you enjoy and are content with the family? I can't imagine a Belgian family moving out to Russia, then China, adapting easily to the difference in lifestyle and climates..

Aye, in general footballing terms. Some pish players make that a month down south in the top 4. He could have easily made close to that at Chelsea.

Much was he on at Zenit, you reckon?

I think the thing is though mate, I think if your a European with a lot of cash in China your basically treated like a VIP.

Maybe it's an ego thing as well, where they can earn so much dough while hardly trying a leg and still being one of the best players in the league by a mile. Some of the defending in China is right up there :giggle1:

He could have doubled that and more at Chelsea and probably Juve as well, no too sure what kind of wages they give out?

I reckon at least 70 grand. Probably more, and tax free like Turkey I think.... Which I remember from McGeady going to Spartak..

It's almost too much though. Look at the Snooker player's who get swamped and can't breathe. Player's who play friendlies out there? It's madness..

Remember the Spurs left back El something who said he didn't like football and it was just a job. I think a lot of footballers do like playing but they just see it as a challenge now of who can make the most, by going anywhere..

I know it's a short career but that doesn't matter to these people and I just can't comprehend the money and lifestyle of a football player. It's ridiculous..

    It's sickening.

Imagine turning down a club like Juventus for some pishy team in * China?

No doubt he'll want to leave in a few months. Hope no * touches him when he comes crawling back to Europe.

6 million or so a year I think he was earning so much more than 70 a week..

Don't know if that's bonuses as well or what but have a Google mate. He's raked a fortune over there..

    Sickening is exactly the word..

No wonder a lot of the older generation don't like football as much..

He'll get a club, and some daft *'s in Europe will have to pay his going rate or close to..
