i think its more important that they play as a team the same way the first team play ,train and improve the weaker points of their game ,winning everything for years has not produced much in terms of first team players ,so maybe its a diffrent aproach thats being tried ,they have to be pushed and playing against older players ,even first team squads ,i know jock stein used to play reserves v first team ,i would imagine that would bring them on .

For those who are in love.....
Just read the report above. Michael Paton, Gavin Reilly and David Hopkirk. All play first team and a lot will know the first 2 and definitely Gavin Reilly who was at Hearts..

You want our kid's playing against one's like that instead of there own age group..

    Neil McCann still coaching them?

DUNFERMLINE left Lennoxtown as worthy victors on Tuesday night, according to Tommy McIntyre, after his Celtic Development Squad failed to hit the high standards they have set for themselves in recent games. The Young Hoops went down 3-0 to the Pars in the SPFL Development League, suffering a rare defeat.

Celtic dominated possession in the first-half but never created enough clear goal-scoring chances. They were then punished swiftly after the restart when Dunfermline raced into a two-goal lead less than 10 minutes into the second-half, before the visitors sealed the win with a clinical third goal with 20 minutes remaining.

Cammy Gill in the Dunfermline goal was instrumental in keeping his team in front, particularly in the second-half, but McIntyre conceded afterwards that his team ultimately didn’t do enough to claim a win.

“All credit to Dunfermline,” the Celtic coach said. “They had an experienced side but we started the game really well and controlled it, particularly in the first-half. In the second-half we lost the goal early on and we never really recovered from that.

“It was disappointing, particularly after the in-roads we’d made in the previous game against St Johnstone but fair play to Dunfermline, they came with a game-plan and had obviously watched us against St Johnstone. They sat in and made it difficult for us.

“I think if we’d have scored the goal early then they maybe would have had to change their game-plan but they didn’t and the longer the game went on, they got their goals and we then had to chase and we left ourselves open at the back and they consolidated on that.

“They had four attempts at goal and scored three goals. We had five or six really good chances but their goalkeeper had three or four outstanding saves in one-on-ones, but we never really did enough in the game to merit the win. I thought we were off it after the displays we’ve had in the last few games, so that’s probably the most disappointing thing.”

The loss stunted Celtic’s progress up the table after their 2-0 win over St Johnstone last week, with the Hoops now in eighth position, but with five games in hand over most of the teams above the, and only 10 points separating McIntyre’s side and the top of the table.

The Academy coach said that his team will have to reflect on Tuesday’s loss before they can go forward, however, and learn from the mistakes made against an experienced Pars side.

“A big part of our game is pressing and counter-pressing and we never really set ourselves up to do that,” he said. “We lacked a bit of positional discipline and the players should know their roles and responsibilities, but we made life easy for Dunfermline and allowed them out too many times.

“They had good players with them but if you allow good players to play then they’re going to hurt you and that, for us, is the disappointing thing. We need to reflect on that, look at the game, review the game with the players and it’s a learning curve for them. They’ve got to improve and we’ve got to improve as a group.

“Sometimes it’s easy to be critical but we’ve got to be positive in our criticism and look at how we can learn from it.”

Should be doing this with a lot more. We are looking at midfielders for the first team. Christie, Henderson & Ajer should be going on loan if they don't get game time

I think that 3 0 result reflects our loans this season. Isn't Kelleher at Peterhead? Nesbitt is doing well at Morton? Thomson as you mentioned. Good news about his debut.

    Dunno where Aitchison is.

Mind you we should still be beating the Pars. We did have Scott Allan, Christie, GMS and Roberts playing for the Dev squad for quite a few games mind you. Even Ciftci played a few games.

YOUNG Celt Ross Doohan has all the makings of a top-class goalkeeper, according to Craig Gordon. The talented teenager was the youngest member of the Hoops squad that travelled to Dubai for the club’s winter training camp, reward for his consistent form at Lennoxtown and for the Development Squad.

Gordon has been hugely impressed by his young colleague and he is also pleased that a promising Scottish shot-stopper was emerging from the ranks.

“Ross has huge potential,” Celtic’s No.1 told the Celtic View. “He’s a really good young goalkeeper. He has been training with us for a couple of years now on and off and he will enjoy this training camp.

“He has made the step up, going out on the pitch and doing the warm-up sometimes as the third goalkeeper when there have been injuries, and he’s not far off being ready to step up.

“He has been doing really well in training and Woodsy has been keeping an eye on him in the games and thinks he is doing well, while Melly (Colin Meldrum) has also been working hard with him on his game.

“Certainly, he is improving really well and he looks like he could have a big future. I’m pleased he is coming through and he’s another Scottish one. We have few Irish guys here at Celtic, but looking towards Scotland and the national team, he has been in a few of the under-age squads getting experience there.

“It’s good for Scotland that we are eventually bringing some goalkeepers through again who can hopefully challenge and get into the full squad given time.”

Albion Rovers can confirm the signing of Theo Archibald on a development loan from Celtic FC until the end of the season. He will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game v Livingston FC.

Darren Young: “Were delighted to welcome Theo to the club. He’s a great attacking talent who has a big future ahead of him. He has pace and will create chances and score goals. He will be a good addition to the squad and help push us on in the second half of the season.”
